When I Started:
How I Started:
Throughout high school and most of college I was a two sport athlete, competing year round. Distance swimming and water polo in high school, and then swimming and crew in college. After retiring from organized sports my junior year of college, I took some time off and basically let myself go.
Eventually I began lifting weights regularly, and have been in the gym for 4 days a week for the last two years.
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling of throwing weight around. I love the way my body feels after a good workout, and I love the sense of accomplishment a good workout can provide.
How I Stay Motivated:
I continually set new goals for my workouts. Presently I am working on strengthening my severely underdeveloped lower back in an effort to bring my squats and deadlifts in line with my upper body ability.
BB Accomplishments:
I recently benched 405 by 2 and 225 by 26 reps.

My 8 month goal is to resolve the lower back issues I have been experiencing by concentrating on my posterior chain, get my weight down to 230, my bench up to 455, and my squats and deads in proportion to my bench.
I follow a 5 day a week plan, and if I am feeling ambitious, I will get in the gym a 6th day a week to do additional cardio. I rotate all of the following, and often substitute alternate exercises for the ones listed (such as DB for BB bench, or maybe I'll start with Incline Bench instead...
