When I Started:
Jun, 1996
How I Started:
Going to highschool in Hawaii, I hard a hard time for my first two years. I decided to start lifting weights and getting in shape in order to hold my own. I was first inspired by Lou Ferrigno in Hercules.
Why I Love It:
I love challenging myself and trying to get bigger and lift heavier weights. The discipline I learn helps me in all areas of life.
How I Stay Motivated:
Motivation has been tough since my injury. In March of '06 I tore my right pectoral and I lost a huge amount of strength. I elected to not get surgery done, but I am pretty confident I will never fully be able to reach the potential I could have. I am making improvements, but motivation was very difficult. Now my motivation is overcoming that weakness. I have never been really ripped, and I am working hard towards that goal.
I want to get my bodyfat down to 6% while still retaining as much muscle mass as possible. I will also get to 20 pull-ups and chin-up for 1 set. And I want to gain mass in my calfs and side delts as well as fill in my lower back.
I recieved an email asking about diet and nutrition, so I wrote a fairly long response and I thought this might be able to help some other people too, so I figured I would post it here on my blog.
This is not 100% complete by any means, but is the basics as I understand them and it working...
DAY 1: Chest & Biceps
---------------------
I will mix this up doing chest first, usually bench press to start. I always try to do the most intense exercise first, in order to get it maximum effort. I will also do about 3 sets, usually 1 warm up set followed by two heavy sets, going up...
Kill it man!! I am trying to get as much info as possible on dieting. Thinking of competition spring 09. This will be my first show. No idea how to diet. Any help would be great.
Nice guns... you've made tons of progress, great work! I noticed your mention of Lou Ferrigno, he is at the top of my favorite's list. He's huge, and you are almost his height. Maybe someday I can have arms like yours!
Yo, dude, your transformation is absolutely amazing! I can't believe you became this sexy beast in those few months. WOW! You're great inspiration for any and everyone, dude. I am reeeally impressed. Your arms and chest look great. Keep it up, bro. Great job. Peace.
Hey John,
You're welcome and I appreciate the kind words. I know you're doing all the hard work, some words of encouragement and motivation is the easy part- glad to see such great progress- hang in there and keep it going.
