I quit smoking in January of '08. Once the nicotine had been out of my system for a while I decided to take it one step further and get into shape. I started off just walking four miles everyday and eventually my friend/trainer put me on a program to train at home. Finally, in Oct. '08, I decided to take the next step and join a gym.
Why I Love It:
It makes me feel good, mentally and physically. I can wake up in the worst mood but once I hit the gym, I'm pissing sunshine. I love learning all about different exercises, body parts, and nutrition. I love seeing the changes in my body and I love hearing my trainer tell me the changes that he sees in my body and I'm finally starting to notice them myself! I'm healthier than I've ever been and I feel better than I ever have.
How I Stay Motivated:
I look in the mirror and see what could be better.
BB Accomplishments:
I've lost eight pounds and added some muscle but really just getting to the gym in the first place was a major accomplishment for me. I've decided that I love being in the gym so much that I will be enrolling in the personal training program @ HFCC in the fall. I'm really excited about this new adventure in my life and August can't get here fast enough! Wish me luck!

It's awesome that even when things might not be going your way, you're still getting your work in. That's true dedication and that's the only way to get to your goals. You should be very proud of yourself! I hope things get better for you though. If there is anything I can do, let me know :)
Jenn, your doing good and looking good. Making the Michigan muscle scene proud. It is our job to show the world there are more than just fat people in this state!!! Good luck with your goals. By the way that's a great Gym..I knew Bill and Shirly.
Mine are going great also. I know what you mean about being off the machines. With free weights it really feels like I get so much more out of my workouts. I'm training to do a 10K in April. Would never have dreamed of doing that while I smoked. Life is so much better now w/o cigarettes and a healthy lifestyle. Have a great week Jenn!
Awesome Jenn! I'm sure you'll love the change. I'm doing well. The progress isn't as fast as I'd like but I know if I stick to it, the benefits will come. Have a great week!
