When I Started:
May, 2005
How I Started:
I took a weightlifting class during my junior year of high school, thinking it would be a great way to meet guys. Instead I got more interested in lifting, so much that I started lifting on my own after the class was over- I was hooked!
Why I Love It:
I like working out because it makes me feel good about myself. I've seen a noticeable improvement in my physical conditioning. I feel confident when I play sports now, even if I'm playing with the guys.
How I Stay Motivated:
I like knowing I'm doing something to stay in shape, not only did I manage to avoid the dreaded freshman 15. I see things I can't do as challenges, just obstacles that motivate me to work hard to overcome them. Plus I also get a lot more attention at the pool, I never thought that could happen to me.
BB Accomplishments:
I opened a jar for my roommate once, she was impressed. And I am the 2008 Greek Week Lightweight Girl's Armwrestling Champion!

This was my dance team picture from high school. I was a junior. I was in ok shape from dancing tons, but I still weighed around 130 pounds, my bf was around 25% and I just didn't like the way my body looked.
This was a pic of me taken at a sorority puff football game. I'm 12 pounds lighter, my bf is 16%, I feel stronger, and I'm still pretty limber.
I want a strong body that is functional as well as attractive.
Goal (Long):
My goal is to develop a well-conditioned body that is stronger and faster. I want additional upper body strength to improve my tennis game and more stamina and endurance for football. My long term goal is to reduce my bodyfat and achieve more definition - I want to look sexy and strong in my bikini!
I'm baaack! So, anyone miss me? I doubt it but that's ok. I'm sooo glad I took last month off but I'm all recuperated now so it's time to get back to it. I'm looking forward to lifting again, and lifting heavy, I'm planning to work all summer to achieve those those strength gains...
Being a student makes life pretty hectic but I find time to lift weights 4 or 5 times a week. I'm challenging myself this year by lifting heavier and working to failure by doing extra reps. I also do 4 cardio sessions a week as well, usually on the elliptical or the stairmaster, varying...
Well, I think a few of us are going to get together in TX this summer. Wanna come? Think I'm going to change the goal again soon, though. So, when are you going to pick back up again?
Hey Andrea,
Cool blog. If your looking for the "next thing" to chase for fitness goals, check our Crossfit, www.crossfit.com It is increasing my functional capacities for athletic activity and incrasing strength in all areas. Congrats on progress.
Good for you knowing where your limits are. Of course, I'd probably go nuts if I quit training. Some days I think it's the only thing that keeps me sane. I hope you get at least some time to kick back and just have fun this summer.
Hey girl! I'm doing okay - nothing spectacular. I've had a good run of bad luck lately, but that's life, right? How's it going for you? Are you about to be free for the summer or are you taking summer classes?
Girl, I graduated from college over ten years ago. Shhhh, don't tell! I don't really ever miss it. Isn't that strange? I suppose life is just too busy these days. Where do you go to school?
