I lifted as part of S&C program in HS athletics. Then, played around with it a bit in college. I really got into powerlifting in 1994 as the gym I worked out in had a team.
Why I Love It:
I like trying to achieve goals and also being regimented and self-disciplined. It's great to look and feel good!
How I Stay Motivated:
Comparing myself to where I have been and where I want to go. Seeing the great pis of people who look awesome (male and female) are very inspiring
BB Accomplishments:
3- time runner up at the Texas USPF Powerliftiing Championships in the OPEN 220 class.

Decrease bf to single digits, maintain bench press of >400 and get my squat back to 600. finally ,increase bicep size from 17.5 to 18.
On the health related side, I'd like to form cleaner eating habits and improve flexibility.
Steve's cuts are unreal. The dedication and discipline it takes to get there is something that is admirable. You can't buy that sort of effort in any bottle.

What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
Ste achievable goals. Be realistic. Set process goals as well as performance goals. Celebrate your victories!!!

How has bodybuilding and fitness helped and/or changed your family life?
We spend more time around the gym and thinking about fitness. My wife has "gone to the gym" for several years but she is getting more serious about it now too.
First workout of the year happened to be one of my favorites...bench press w.o. for spreed. I pulled out some old exercises. Everything went well. Here is the prescription doc:
That's cool. Well you only get out what you put in...so make it happen. If I can pack on 10 lbs of muscle this year, I would be satisfied. I would like to develop my arms, back and legs more. I need to also start working out with a workout partner when doing bigger muscle groups. I can tighten up my diet a little more. Basically I want to keep moving forward. 2010 should be a great year bro...lets get after it.
Oh-I will let you know for sure if I make it over there! Haha-we grilled last night & froze...did you see how cold it's going to get by the end of the week? We're expecting lows in the 20's by Friday-I don't remember it being THIS cold for THIS long in a long time...I'm a wuss :)

No, I'm not going to compete until July 31-Vegas for the USA's....Most of the big shows are in July-October so I don't want to cut weight until the very end...getting ready for May would be a waste of time for me. But, I hope to attend if it works out for my schedule :) Hope you're having a great weekend-it's still very chilly here-Yuck!

Yo! I do have a couple trainings today. I'm in between them right now. Also signed up a group training with a couple of girls in my home gym. Training young people is the best, you really get to work them and mold them.
I'm not lifting tonight, as I did the past two days in a row. I'm resting up for a deadlift session either tomorrow or Sunday. You?
