Overall Goal:  I want to meet or exceed Army standards, and get below 26% body fat.

Fit Status:  Other than my BF%, I'm in the best shape of my life! Hooah!

When I Started:
1989
How I Started:
I realized I was not where I wanted to be. I lost enough weight over a single summer that close friends didn't recognize me when I went back to college. I let things slide over the years, and now I'm back.
Why I Love It:
I love seeing my body change. I've got a great body for this, because I can have one great workout and see a change the next morning.
How I Stay Motivated:
I don't worry about motivation. Work out not because you feel good, but because it's what you do. You don't want to go to work, but you do. Firemen don't want to run into burning buildings, but that's what they do. Forget feelings and motivation, and do it!
BB Accomplishments:
I've lost 125 pounds so far. I've close enough to my next goal that I'm not even measuring pounds, I'm measuring inches and fat %.

Before I got Going Starting Point
This is me at my largest, around 350 lbs. I filled up an entire easy chair. That shirt was a 3XL with a 19" neck. I wore 58" pants.
Still have a ways to go, but this is incredible progress. I might have to have that loose skin around the love handles surgically removed later.

Have you ever had a lifting injury?
Yes
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
I tore a pec once. Not a major, serious injury, but I just took things easy for a few weeks until it recovered.

Time Magazine had a cover story about exercise not making you thin.  I was curious, so I read it.  It correctly stated that people will not lose weight if they exercise a little and then eat more; the example was given of a couple of women who ran a mile, and then rewarded themselves with...

Workout Program:
I'm currently on an old-school 3-day split, working 6 days a week.

Day 1: Pushing muscles (chest, triceps)
Day 2: Pulling muscles (back, bis)
Day 3: Legs

Each week, the workouts shift one day, to help keep the muscles confused. In effect, each body part gets an additional rest day one week...
