Overall Goal: My short-term goal is to start building muscle and cut down my body fat.
Over the 2008 year I would like to lose 60 pounds of body fat.

When I Started:
Jan, 2008
How I Started:
I have always been a big guy. In 2001, I started lifting and eating right. I dropped 70 pounds. I stopped lifting and eating well it all came back, with a vengeance. I have always wanted to body build but never thought I could. I have decided that it is what I want and I’m going to make it happen.
Why I Love It:
I love bodybuilding and working out because it make me feel better. I stay healthier and more focused.
I have been temping at different jobs as I go to school over last few years. I have been looking for a permanent job. Since I have decided to make my body a priority in my life. I decided to apply with 24-hour fitness a chain of gyms in my area and also the gym I belong to. I interview last...
I have had bouts with depression myself. More than depression I have been taking anxiety medication because my mind is my own worst enemy sometimes. You should check out a book called "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrnes. I really feel this book has changed my life. It is only 200 pages and a quick read. If you really want changes i recommend it. I have already bought it for like 6 people. There is also a DVD that summarizes it if you don't like to read. Good luck bro.
I would have to say the biggest tip would be a proper diet. You can work your ass off, but if you don't eat the proper foods, you're just spinning your wheels.
Out of the Dark and into the Light
Hello my body space friends. I am sorry that I have not responded to anyone, as of late but over the last 4 to 6 months I have been fight a depression. It was brought on my personal life crap just like everyone else. I would like to thank all of you for keeping me on your friends list and a tab on me. Thanks to a good but kicking from my loved one’s I’m ready to HIT the gym and get some progress back.
Thank you all
Matthew
You'll have good days and bad days, good periods and bad ones. Just learn to bounce from one to the other. Over time, you'll accomplish something. Just stay the course.
Hey, I'm right there with ya on the wieghts man. I got a better feeling from my workouts when I lift heavy, but I gotta focus on the supersets and giant sets to drop the pounds. That means less weight in my hands, but I'm losing weight. That's my goal right now, so I can live with the lighter weights for now.
Yup sure did. I lost 5 lbs. That is about what I do a week when I train. This week I will be kicking it up by going mountain biking instead of using the treadmill. MB'ing is 100 times more intense then the treadmill the way I push myself on the dirt trails. If I keep that up I will have to increase my calories to be able to ride. Having to add food to a diet is not a bad thing though right? Ha-ha!
You are smart to post all of the requested stats. Then you can see things improving over time even when you don't notice it in the mirror. Your waist/hips ratio a measure of heart-health is pretty good, about 1.0 (50/49.5) so you can feel comfortable on that front.
