When I Started:
2007
How I Started:
Well, I started to join a gym in MD probably 2004-2005, but with lack of true workout knowledge and not having enough support from those around me and location of the gym, I didn't stick with it. Then, I moved to MA in late 2005 and joined a gym Feb. 2006. However, I really began to make a conscious effort in 2007 to pay attention to working out more (mostly with fitness classes at my gym). Though I've still had a bunch of setbacks (injuries, sickness, etc.), that I end up feeling I am starting all over, but I'm not giving up. Going to continue into this new year, 2009, with my workout routine, eating habits, and concentrate on my weight. Still trying to be positive about my process, even though it's been slow going. This year, 2008, has been a more successful year, I've been able to fit into clothes I haven't been able to fit into in years, learned more about my workout limits, eating habits, variety of workouts, etc. Again, though, I'm still pushing on and looking forward to some awesome results (physically, mentally, emotionally, etc.)
Why I Love It:
I enjoy working out because it makes me feel good! I can see my muscles working when I lift weights and feel the rush when I'm in 'the zone' in a cardio kickboxing class and it makes me feel good about myself and what I'm trying to accomplish.
How I Stay Motivated:
Staying motivated is probably 1 of my biggest issues. I love to watch 'The Biggest Loser' and it helps me stay positive. Having my online support (CC 130/120 forum ;D)helps me daily to be supported and support others. Reviewing positive women's health magazines. Being involved in a small group exercises at my gym (like Fitraxx) or larger group exercises (like Power and Kick).
Seeing the results that SO many other people out there (like on this stie) are getting, whether for bodybuilding reasons or just to become more fit!
BB Accomplishments:
Well, not looking for 'bodybuilding' really, but to improve myself overall with my fitness, change my lifestyle and truly become the strong, healthy, and a happier woman, I know that I am inside! :D

Goal (Long):
I've been the 'chunky' girl, most of my life and have never really been happy with the way I look. In 2007 I started to make a conscious effort to keep up with the gym, but had some set backs, but continued on through 2008. Again, had some setbacks this year, but not giving up.
I will be 30 in late 2009 and am hoping to have reached my fitness/health goals by then and then be able to maintain after that.
Update: My current health goals, to reach a weight that I'm happy with to have defined muscles and lowered my body fat all around. I would love to fit into my VS bikini this summer!
Continue to building a successful workout routine that I can stick with (and switch up when needed) throughout the year, such as doing interval/circuit training (cardio/strength training/stability). I am not going to put a definite # up for how many days a week to do cardio or strength training b/c it always seems to change....so I'm just going to have my workout routine as 'in progress' and will do what I can where I can and keep going!
Working on my portion control and healthier eating, cutting down on excess sweets, which is still tough for me...but I'm still moving forward!
*****
6.3.09 I'm once again into the mind set of 'enough is enough gotta get my body the way I've always dreamed', though b/c I have the 'all or nothing' mindset, I have to really focus...so let's see what Steve Poynter's EFD plan can do for me and how far I can go! Thanks for the motivation from all the people on BB.com too!*****
When I first joined TEAM POYNTER/Stevep78 ~ my thots were: going to kick my @$$ into gear & then some to lower body fat, define overall muscle, learn 2 b healthier, & finally fit into that bikini! My transformation's on!
Well, after the Aug. 22nd attendance of friend's wedding, I hadn't made my goals, but did find a dress that still made me feel good about myself. :) Yeah, once again, I've fallen off track and have to pick myself up again. It's a vicious cycle. So, this 2nd week of Sept. 2009, is the start of another beginning. :)
Her transformation makes me want to keep going. :) I don't feel you have to be ripped competely to look amazing...if I could, I would love to get a physique like hers!

What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Well it's really like a few levels in 1 tip. Getting comfortable with just moving your body, esp. if you've not done it before or very often , mastering form, starting out small in a workout as to not cause injury are all important as well as not being afraid of pushing yourself, when you truly have the form down so that you don't cause yourself burnout (which kinda ties in w/ the 'mistake' question abovem that I myself have made in the past all too many times.) What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
I still make mistakes! haha. Though, I think one of my first mistakes was trying to start too fast too soon. Example: One of the first times I tried to really work on 'exercising' I remember I tried one of the Tae Bo series tapes...yes tapes. :D I did the Intro. tape 1 or 2 times through and thought I was ready for the Basic video, which was the next one up. I was sooo wrong! :) I still make mistakes! haha. Though, I think one of my first mistakes was trying to start too fast too soon. Today (like yesterday)..well as of late (the past week I guess), I've been seriously 'bingeing' on candy. :( Halloween season and all....and yet, it's not quite Halloween!
I bought candy for work...1st bad decision...and then I eat it! :( I just don't understand...
Hey friend, thats a pretty butterfly...how are you doing...yur back seems to be getting in a raw shape...nice work,so hows yur training coming along, wish u all the best with yr goal:)
Hey girl! I was wondering what happened, I hadn't heard from you in a while! Glad to hear you've jumped back on board, I look forward to seeing how you progress from here!! :)
HEY! I am good. Had a killer workout today. Haven't gone runningin a while, so I attempted that....LOL...I power walked about 5 miles. Did some sprints in between.....all in all it was good. How is training? Life? The house hunt?
Hey LOVE.....I see you are tired....everything ok? Take a day or two to regroup so you can come back refreshed! You are doing SO GREAT!!!!! I am really proud of you! :P
Glad to have you in the group...were all gonna Rock bb.com!!! Did you get your progress pics posted and measurements? A few are behind on posting this weeks pics!! Your Back Looks Great!!!
I usually go 6 days a week... working legs on Tues or Wed and Saturday... for about 1.5 - 2 hours depending on if I feel like doing cardio or not LOL I'm gonna try and start doing it more because I think it will really help me lean out more but I'm just so not a cardio person! I've seen such great results without it so it's hard to make myself do it!
It was good, went to Ohio to visit my family... It had been too long! Glad to be home though, getting ready to hit the gym in about an hour... took last week off so I'm really ready to get back in it hardcore!
