I have always been a "husky" kid, from about second grade on through high school. I never played organized sports, just pick up games of football, basketball, etc., so I never had a chance to use and lose the fat that I had accumulated over the years.
Being a "band geek"(trombone), I got a music scholarship for college. One of the criteria was to be in the marching band. No Problem, I've been doing that since Jr. High. To make a long story short, the type of marching it was is known as a "high stepping" show band. In other words...we danced while we played (i.e.; the movie "Drumline").
To be on this band, you had to be in shape. The incoming Freshman class went though boot camp...literally! A lot of the upperclassmen were in R.O.T.C. and was going to make the military their career, so they knew all about "P.T.". Running...push-ups...mountain climbs...all during a South Carolina Summer, the fat just melted away. Doing all of this, I lost 40 or 50 pounds. I looked pretty good! I stayed around 200/210lbs for some time. Then, over the years, I became less active and the weight began to creep up on me. Got married, got a career and the next thing you know...280 pounds! Right then and there I told myself that I would never be that size again.
I went onto training mode the Summer of 2004. I started out watching "FitTV" and doing aerobics along with eating mostly salads. The pounds started dropping quickly. I then set my goal at 200lbs, remembering how I looked and felt back then when I was 19 years old.
When I hit 255 pounds, I joined the local Gold's Gym and it helped me a lot.
Well, I've hit my longest plateau, to date. I needed help, so I joined BodyBuilding.com to get some pointers from people who have been where I am and hopefully I can help someone in the future.
200 pounds is the goal and a low bodyfat percentage. Maybe, one day, I can look like I compete.

Starting Monday, 12-10-07, I would have been on crutches for 5 weeks. I am putting weight on my left leg, but not for a lengthy amount of time. The scarring isn't bad, at all. Just three slits on the knee and one slit on the outer part of the knee.
Man sorry it has been sooo long to reply. My name is from the Akira class Starship in Star Trek. Yes I am a Trekkie. I liked the name so it stuck with me.
Hey Keith, I've deleted my bodyspace profile, but will continue to update both blogs(wordpress/bb). Just didn't want you to think I left without posting an update. Have a blessed Monday, and I'm sure to see you on the boards. :) T
Backwards? No way...if you're back on the wagon and moving forward...that IS progress. Believe that!! My progress was faster initially, because I was so sedentary and fat. Heck, my body was in shock from all that training. LOL Thanks for your support Keith. I really do appreciate it. I believe in you. Make it happen!! :) T
Hey...that's great news!! Sounds like you're back on the wagon. You'll be burning fat and building muscle in no time. I'll have to check on you more often Keith. Keep me updated on your progress ok? :) T
No...far from skinny. lol Things are going well Keith. How have you been? I hope to reach 200 lbs by end of this month, and 25% mid march. How did the detox turn out? :) T
I love your Yoda quote! I read about your knee - how frustrating that must have been for you! Can you do upper body work outs at least? You have made incredible progress-I hope to do the same!! :)
