Started lifting casually in college, but got more serious with a trainer at the end of 2000.
Why I Love It:
The pride and confidence in being in the shape I want to be. Plus it's fun to intimidate people. :)
How I Stay Motivated:
Knowing that what I admire in others is what I can be, and what I would have been if I'd started wrestling and lifting in high school. Discouragement lasts only a few days until somebody inspires me.
BB Accomplishments:
Went from scrawny to stocky. 145 lb skullcrusher (triceps, 7 reps). Bench 300 lb max barbell, 85 lb dumbbells and counting!
Yoo hoo, down to 233 lb/16.5% fat/185 lb muscle for 5 days. Now trying for 230 lb and then 200.
Goal (Long):
(7/2009) I gained some good muscle the past three years but my weight went up from 200 to 240 and I don't think all of it was good. So want to get down to 200 while keeping my current muscle and strength.
Time for a new workout after being home with the flu. I started by prioritizing what I wanted to work on, then brainstormed my favorite exercises in each area, and then put them into a schedule. So here are the priorities:
A. Stand straight (do every time I stand up)
B. Keep glutes...
I have tried several workouts: drop sets (7 reps + 20 reps), heavy only (4-7 reps), light only (20 reps + calisthenics). Currently I'm doing light to get into better shape for wrestling/boxing.
Hey brother, Polok is right. There is NOTHING that cant be done with the right amount of resources, skill and brute force. We're all here to get and give help. So if you need it, just ask.
If you are interested in a program that really works at getting rid of bodyfat as well as getting you into great shape I suggest you check out Body for Life. It is a 12-week total body transformation program that gives you a great nutrition plan along with both weightlifting and cardio routines. My wife (bodyspace: judimax) went from a size 12/14 to a 4/6 and I lost over 50 lbs going from 36 to 10% bodyfat in just 12 weeks with the BFL program. Let us know if you would like more info
keep working hard bro. I believe MMA is the best workout over-all. I trained for a few short months while i was state side in co springs. If you can manage training with lifting you will reach your goals quickly.
