Started lifting casually in college, but got more serious with a trainer at the end of 2000.
Why I Love It:
The pride and confidence in being in the shape I want to be. Plus it's fun to intimidate people. :)
How I Stay Motivated:
Knowing that what I admire in others is what I can be, and what I would have been if I'd started wrestling and lifting in high school. Discouragement lasts only a few days until somebody inspires me.
BB Accomplishments:
Went from scrawny to stocky. 145 lb skullcrusher (triceps, 7 reps). Bench 300 lb max.
Get over some muscle coordination issues and lose 25 pounds, then add 1.5" to my arms and work on strength.
Goal (Long):
(5/2007) switched to a mostly heavy workout but continuing the jumprope/punching bag. More when I get time to start a workout blog.
I want to be both muscled and with good cardio shape and flexibility so I'm working on all three.
Currently have 16" arms, 45" chest, 5 pullups with feet behind. Aiming for 17.5 - 18" arms, maybe 47 or 52 chest, 20 pullups.
Still working out with my trainer Animal, now 4x a week. 1 1/2 days boxing, 1 day upper body (mostly chest and back), 1 day legs. On the weekends I do arms on my own. I run intervals for cardio because it's the best for wrestling/boxing. I want to stay in fighting shape even though I doubt...
I have tried several workouts: drop sets (7 reps + 20 reps), heavy only (4-7 reps), light only (20 reps + calisthenics). Currently I'm doing light to get into better shape for wrestling/boxing.
If you are interested in a program that really works at getting rid of bodyfat as well as getting you into great shape I suggest you check out Body for Life. It is a 12-week total body transformation program that gives you a great nutrition plan along with both weightlifting and cardio routines. My wife (bodyspace: judimax) went from a size 12/14 to a 4/6 and I lost over 50 lbs going from 36 to 10% bodyfat in just 12 weeks with the BFL program. Let us know if you would like more info
keep working hard bro. I believe MMA is the best workout over-all. I trained for a few short months while i was state side in co springs. If you can manage training with lifting you will reach your goals quickly.
Hey big guy, how's it going? I got some push up bars about two weeks ago. I'm loving these bad boys. My lower pecs are more cut. I've been putting the bars out about 5 feet apart with my fingers pointing outwards using a fly movement during the pushups. My abs are getting a workout also. Best investment ever. Just wanted to fill ya in on that. Happy New Year.
Thanks for the tips sluggo. I will keep reminding myself the PROPER technique. It all makes sense also. I've been looking at your website, it's a great source to look at. It's all summed up also. Making it easier to understand. I'll see you around though. Keep beefing up cause i'm gonna catch up with you within two years. lol later
