When I Started:

How I Started:
I use to lift in high school and the military, but slowed down when I got out due to time with the family, jobs, school. The standard stuff that gets us all off track. During my career as a firefighter (now retired), I was injured several times. Once being struck in the side of the head by a 500 lb beam, and another time suffering a severly broken leg, and I was run over by a pick-up, dislocating my shoulder and breaking a leg. These injuries reqired alot of time off and I gained weight, which I haven't been able to lose with cardio alone. Although I have a resting heart rate of 54-56, I'm still packing alot of bodyfat. So, now I'm in serious need of getting back in to shape so I can live a better quality of life.
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling of strength and power that I get from lifting and the effect it has on my body. It also injury proofs my body. If I hadn't had such a thick neck when I was hit in the head....I would have been killed.
How I Stay Motivated:
My wife and I had a little surprise come to us about 4 years ago, and I need to be around for a long time for her, and the other kids. That and the fact that I want to set a good examlpe for them, on how to be healthy and fit.

I have been injured for about 2 months. I thought it was low back issues and sciatica, but it turned out to be periformis sydrome. It requires rest and p.t. It is a R.M.I. and so has really slowed me to a halt. I haven't gained any weight back, but I won't be able to work out with...
3 hours of cardio per week.
Alternating days of circuit training- upper body on day and lower body the next. I change up my routine because I'm easily bored and get stale quickly. Rest one day a week with one day per week for basketball, raquetball, martial arts.
Hey Bro,
We do it all. i work for federal fire. So we are jack of all trades. Willand, Military planes, structural, Haz-Mat, Tech Rescue.
What about you?
If there is ever anything that I can do to be of assistance feel free to give me a yell. We can all use an extra person or two in our corner from time to time.
Thank for your kind words. I have faith that if you push yourself to be the best that you can be in your quest for fitness that you will achieve your goals. I believe that bodybuilding is the true Fountain of Youth and looking at the large number of young looking older folks here on BB.com seems to prove my point.
Thank you for the comment... Yeah it is pretty bad when I am making PB&J for the kiddos and I start drooling!!! No It isn't that bad, in fact the kids are eating better (less fast food!!) Have a good day!!!
