A rocky childhood created within me a struggle on so many different levels that it was expected that I would have such extreme weight and body image issues. My largest weight was at the age of 17, when I tipped the scales at 215. But fitness and nutrition was always something of intense fascination to me. My brain's a sponge and I always soaked in fitness/exercise/nutritional knowledge and would sporadically apply it to my body. Back in early 2007 I decided to hit it hard again. Lack of weight training meant results weren't coming fast enough and eventually, I just threw my hands up and said "what's the point...my fiance thinks I'm gorgeous." Then that man and I decided to go our separate ways and there I was again, feeling insecure and invisible.
One day it all clicked and I decided enough was enough - I'm tired of being fat...and tired of feeling invisible. That day, I took my official before pictures, marched into Bally's and signed up, went grocery shopping and stopped by GNC. I was called obsessed and crazy by a few people for a while thereafter, and am now being called inspiring (amazing, some others' reactions to you when you follow your dreams). But the only one who will do it for you - is YOU. And really, there are no excuses. I'm doing this for me, and I feel SO amazing.
Why I Love It:
I love the way my body performs when I've mastered my "machinery" and feel so energized knowing that I'm often being "watched" in the gym (voyeuristic fantasies, possibly? lol kiddddding!!). I strive for a long and active life.
How I Stay Motivated:
I feel so beautiful. These forums really help to keep me motivated. I want to be able to share knowledge and advice to help others improve their bodies, especially since I almost gave up because I didn't fully "know" but thought I did. Always follow the advice you give ;).
BB Accomplishments:
I've been receiving facebook messages from friends of friends of friends etc. etc. who tell me I've inspired them to get into shape. It feels amazing to make a difference in the lives of people I've never even met.
shaniarielupdated Fit Status "Back on track and losing fat like crazy....moving next week and having to make an extra effort to eat - I have zero appetite :^/."
This was taken after I gained back 50lbs I shed 2 years earlier. Looking back, I had NO idea how big I really was!
Taking a break from packing: My final progress pics in this bedroom...I move Thursday. My FAVE part is my lovely backside lol. Without shame, I admit that I admire it often. I thank hard work and latin genes haha.

Where do you find healthy recipes to try?
I tend to make a lot of stuff up - so long as I get the right balance in each meal. My fave invention came the other week when I was almost out of groceries: Egg whites and add small scoop of dry oats and 1 cup drained red or black beans. The oats make the eggs rise and the beans give an almost meaty texture. And I like a lil scoop of peanut butter on the side. What is your favorite "healthy" dessert? Give the recipe if applicable.
For years I had an office job which caused me to be all too aware of what time it was. And because of that awareness I'd count down the minutes until I could pop up from my desk and frolick to the kitchen for my 2 o'clock meal.
Until recently (almost 2 weeks now) I left behind the...
Awesome job!! Look how sad you are in the first few pics and how happy you are now....
Great pics, you look amazing. Keep up the hard work it's defintely paying off.
