Fit Status:
Having to live off of cafeteria food is wreaking havoc on my diet. I do what I can but it's far from ideal. Training is going pretty well.

When I Started:
Jun, 2002
How I Started:
I bought my first body building magazine in 2002. I was hooked from then on. In May of 2005, I bought Anthony Ellis's program "Gaining Mass". Using the diet and exercise techniques outlined in the program, I managed to gain about 25 pounds. After I learned the basics, I used my own diet and routine to get up to 165 pounds before cutting down for a contest. Since Beginning bodybuilding, I've gained over 50 pounds of muscle. I've also added nearly 200 pounds to my max bench, 250 to my max squat, and I'm currently near a triple bodyweight deadlift.
Why I Love It:
It gives me a great outlet for all of the frustration and anger that comes from living everyday life. I like to think of bodybuilding as my "anti drug" because it mostly kept me out of trouble during high school. Also, unlike singing, dancing, or playing sports, people can tell just by looking at you that you work out. You probably wouldn't be able to pick the best golfer out of a line of people, but you can certainly pick out the bodybuilder! Being strong helps in a lot of areas outside of bodybuilding and powerlifting too. Bodybuilding has influenced the path I've chosen for myself in life. Because of my interest in the human machine, I'm now pursuing a degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Nutrition at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
How I Stay Motivated:
I set goals for myself and don't stop until I meet them. It also helps to have a workout partner who is interested in the same goals as myself. Seeing my own results in the mirror does more for me than any Arnold poster ever could.
BB Accomplishments:
-3rd place in teen men at the Mid-Illinois Championship.
-Two 1st place wins at the Illinois State Fair Bench Press/Deadlift Championship.
-Various top 3 placings in high school powerlifting competitions.

This time, I'm going for 220 and I refuse to quit until I get there. I'd like to be at a 300 bench, 400 squat, and a 500 deadlift by the end of my freshman year of college. I also want to win an NPC show sometime in the future.
Nick has made one of the most incredible transformations I've ever seen despite circumstances that would keep most people from even considering getting into bodybuilding. Congrats Nick!! You're a true inspiration!
Day 1: CHEST/TRIS/SHOULDERS
Bench: Set of 8,6,4,2 (increasing weight)
DB Military Press: 3x8
Skullcrushers: 12,10,8,6 w/ burnout. (constant weight)
Incline Dumbbell Press: 10,8,6 (increasing weight)
Single Arm Cable Tris: 5x10-15 (optional superset with dumbbell curls)
Cable Chest...
Sam, great profile. I would like you highlight you in a teen transformation project we are currently working on. Shoot me an email at will@bodybuilding.com when you get a chance.
