Background

When I Started: Jul 2011
HOW I STARTED:

I became a bb.com'er and instantly dove into working out again. I was fit during high school - but have had a huge 6 year gap of no constructive fitness at all. Feeling skinny, weak, depressed and finally pissed off I hopped on the Kris Gethin 12 Week Trainer and started changing my habits immediately. It's been all downhill from there - I'm only a couple pounds away from reaching my weight gain goal of 155 Lbs. I'm on my 2nd 12 Week Trainer w/ Jim Stoppani and finding myself anxious for the evening workout that awaits me.

WHY I LOVE IT:

Your body is your primary vehicle in life, by taking care of it you ensure maximum potential in mind, body and spirit. Good physical health leads to good mental health which leads to a well balanced and happy life. It's not a chore, it's a lifestyle.

I started out with the 12 Week Hardcore Trainer w/ Kris Gethin.  Immediately after that I went into Jim Stoppani's 12 Week Shortcut to Size and I am on Week 7 and LOVING IT!

Getting rid of Fast Food & Eating Healthy

For years I have treated my body poorly.  I got in really bad habits of stopping by McDonalds or Taco Bell to satisfy my hunger.  I became weak and my mental health and well being was diminishing.  I had to change something quickly.  I started the 12 week trainer with Kris Gethin and learned an entire industry of healthy eating.  I started cooking my own Meat, Rice, fresh Vegetables and Sweet Potatos.  I bought my first protein supplements and then moved into Fish Oils, a daily Multi Vitamin and BCAAs.  The combination of all of this has made me feel absolutely incredible 12 weeks later.

Stay motivated with BodySpace!

There are limited things that have the enthusiasm to give me enough motivation to keep going with my training.  

I was lucky enough to have a Workout Partner during my first 12 Week Trainer which literally got me through it with confidence.  Having a motivator, a spotter and a reciprocal of the healthy routine you're building are all the most positive things you can set yourself up with.

A lot of my other motivation comes from BodySpace users and the attention you can get from posting about your experiences during training.  We are all in this together, so why not help each other by showing the problems we encounter and how we solve them, the challenges we face and the methods we used to demolish them.  Photos get comments, likes and views.  Your page gets comments and encouragement.  Everything about BodySpace pushes you to keep doing better.

When I need to see some good motivational posters / images I'll head to the Bodybuilding.com Forum where there are literally hundreds or even thousands of threads with the greatest content.  Say hello to the misc'ers while you're there.

What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned from doing this 12 week transformation?


The most valuable lesson I learned was eating.  What you put in your body is EVERYTHING.  Nutrition is said to be about 70% of the entire training experience, lifting is the other portion.  I learned quickly that giving myself the energy and nutrients from good food was what was going to get me through the 12 weeks of training and ultimately give me the results I wanted. 


Did you accomplish your goals?

Half way through week nine and getting excited to see the end results.  I have purposefully ignored myself in the mirror last couple weeks so I can notice any change.  In three weeks I hope I can add another pound or two and still have the muscle size I've gained.  My eating has plateaued at 4 meals a day including Breakfast, Lunch, Pre-Workout Meal & Post-Workout Meal.  I eat 2-3 protein bars a day in between meals and of course have protein shakes once or twice a day.  I definitely could be having more protein shakes.

fluid1 For my right sleeve, I did two sittings of 9 hours each. The left arm/shoulder was 3 sittings of 8 hours each, and the wave on my stomach and ribs was two sessions, 7 hours and then 4. lol brutal May 24, 2012 8:18pm

Skyhigh55 Try to find your own motivation with or without partner. I find that if I alway plan my workouts to be solo, then it is a good workout. If my partner shows up, then it is an even better workout. it's a Win in both cases. Keep going and find something like music to get your solo workouts motivating. Good luck. May 20, 2012 9:27pm

Skyhigh55 I have been taking this pre-workout supplement and I think it works great. I get a rush after 30 minutes of drinking that will continue for 4 hours. Note that it may effect your sleep if you drink it in the evening. I highly recommend it as well. Apr 26, 2012 9:30pm
