How I Started:
I turned 40 in February 2009 and felt I needed to make some real life-changes to improve my health, mentally and physically.
Why I Love It:
I like to see that hard work in the gym pays off. I like seeing the results. I also have greater self-esteem from this.
How I Stay Motivated:
Honestly, looking in the mirror. I love seeing the progress I'm making day-to-day. The positive comments I get from friends is also very motivating.
BB Accomplishments:
I'm not sure if this is a major accomplishment, but they put up a story and before-current photos of my progress at the gym!

Worst. Shape. Ever. This is probably the worst shape I've ever been in. Photo was taken September 2008, I started training February 24, 2009. Size 44 waist, 275+ lbs. We all have to start somewhere.
I haven't been able to work upper body for 2 weeks because of a shoulder injury. I'm still leaning out, before I can start bulking muscle. This is my 6-month milestone, thanks to everyone for the encouragement and motivation!

Goal (Long):
I've always wanted to compete, and have always been in the gym. But I fall off the wagon with my diet and nutrition and put the fat back on. I'm very motivated now, I have a nutritionalist working with me, and I believe I can drop 60 lbs of fat and pack on the muscle and start pursuing my dream of competing. Maybe in a couple of years.
lil_kris is #1 on my list. She started by e-mailing me and telling me how great I'm doing, and she never let up on the motivation and positive attitude. She knows where I'm coming from when things are not going well (i.e. PEOPLE SUCK!), and she won't let me get down. I train hard, because you train hard lil_kris! Thanks for everything babe, you're awesome.

What do you do before your workout to get motivated and energized?
I eat a snack or some kind of energy bar about 1 hour before the gym, and drink a 12-oz serving of Scivation Vasocharge (Lemonade) about 30 minutes before the gym. This is pretty much a Body-For-Life workout program.
All the muscle groups are worked in the following manner:
12x, 10x, 8x, 6x reps increasing the weight with 30 second rest between sets, then 12x reps lighter weight burn, then 12x reps with a different exercise for the same muscle...

hey scott how is hawaii you lucky man.. the weather here is a bit similar so its beautiful! I live 300 mts from the beach so am loving the outdoor cardio sessions every morning!!! how is yuor tranformation coming along, are you enjoying the changes... ?
