When I Started:
May, 2005
How I Started:
I started lifting about 12 years ago with a friend of mine, and I lifted for about 3 years, but over time I drifted in and out of the sport. About 3 years ago I met my fiance who has been lifting for about the past 17 years of his life on a very regular basis. I started going into the gym with him and began lifting light weight and getting back into cardio and gradually started lifting heavier and heavier. My dream had always been to be able to get to the point to enter a figure competition, so I set my mind to it, and began lifting 5-6 days a week. I hooked up with some other friends who also competed in the bodybuilding competitions, and they helped me out with some routines, diet and the in's and outs of competing. Before I knew it, I was entering my first figure competitions in July of 2006. I placed 4th in my first show and 2nd in my second show....now I'm addicted and it seems to just be a way of life for me.
Why I Love It:
I love bodybuilding because the end result is a beautiful body...and what better in the world than to be complimented all of the time on how much younger you look than you are and to hear people talk about what great shape you are in! The sport is also a great stress reliever for me!
How I Stay Motivated:
I leave pictures of what my body looks like during competition season sit all around the house so there is a constant reminder of how great I can look with a little extra effort and it keeps me motivated. My fiance also helps to keep me motivated because he is very dedicated to the sport and therefore it helps to inspire me. I also enjoy reading a lot of the articles on the body building.com website because I am constantly learning new things that help keep my diet and training fun and productive.
BB Accomplishments:
To date my biggest accomplishment in body building is the fact that I went from a average straight body with very little muscle tone at about 18% body fat, to competition shape in less than 6 months. My bodyfat at competition time was between 5-6%! I placed 4th in my first show and 2nd in my 2nd show (one week later).
