I started lifting my senior year of high school in preparation of my final season of track. I was never really blessed with that great of athletic talent, so I had to make up for it in the weightroom and stayin after practice. Turned out I was conference champ in the high hurdles my senior year, all region and all section as well, and made it to state. The following summer I started lifting a little more seriously. Now I am a Junior at University Wisconsin-La Crosse majoring in Fitness and double minoring in Strength & Conditioning as well as Nutrition. I am now a certified personal trainer through the NSCA, as well as a fitness instructor.
Why I Love It:
I would say I love the whole fitness field, not just bodybuilding. I work with a wide variety of individuals including athletes, adolescents, disabled individuals, and older individuals. I also train in different modes. Because the entire fitness and nutrition world is ever-changing, so is are my ideas and philosophies behind exercise and sports nutrition. In other words the reason why I love working out and staying fit in general is because there are always new things to try and new things to investigate.
How I Stay Motivated:
Because I love the ever-changing nature of the fitness field, I stay motivated by continuing my knowledge everyday. I dont just merely stick to the classroom either, I love doing research informally on my own as well as taking part in formal research studies. I am currently involved with a study entitled, "An examination of the contralateral strength training effect." In our study we are training previously untrained individuals unilaterally for 8-10 weeks, and then testing thereafter. (we are in week 6)
