I have 4 young children, and I have no energy to play with them, even when I get a good night sleep. I don't want to die a young man from a heart attack leaving my kids fatherless.
Why I Love It:
I have always admired those who took care of their bodies. Our body is the Temple of God, so I want to take care of what the Lord has given me.
How I Stay Motivated:
I'm striving to apply the "cardinal" virtues into my life through bodybuilding:
Fortitude- courage, strength, & endurance
Prudence- the will to act, despite discomfort
Temperance- self control (especially my diet)
BB Accomplishments:
To be seen.

Here's me as the rest of the world sees me. I'll be 32 on June 21st, and I feel like a goofy bubba. My heart struggles when I want to play with my 4 kids, and I'm always tired. It is time for a change!!! And the change starts now!!!
Feeling a little better about myself. Still got a LONG way to go though. Not bad for the end of month 1 though.
I intend to improve my health so that I can live to see my 4 kids get married. I also want to learn how to take care of this body God has given me.
Goal (Long):
I resisted bodybuilding for over 10 years because I remained confused as to how to bodybuild without vanity. I wanted to be faithful to my Lord without the poison of self-love.
Then my wife and kids sat and had a talk with me. They shown that I never played with them anymore, and that I rarely ever did anything fun. I explained that I just never had any energy to play anymore. That was it! After asking the Holy Spirit for help as to how to do this, He guided me to this particular book that changed my viewpoint on bodybuilding. The book is "Fit for Eternal Life" by Kevin Vost, PSY.D. The book is a Christian Approach to Working Out, Eating Right, and Building the Virtues of Fitness in Your Soul. It teaches how to use "High Intensity Training" along with aerobic exercising to regain my figure and health.
On June 21st., for my 32nd. birthday, I will guide my life into a new direction that will hopefully lead to a more healthy, attractive, and fun me, all for the Glory of God.
God Bless.
Well, I am back with a progress update... if you can call it progress.
I left off at week 6 going on vacation, so I could not train the entire week. But, we were camping, so i found myself physically drained by the end of the days anyway from chopping wood and comforting kids at 2 in...
Hey there! I am sorry I have not got back with you sooner. I have only become serious about Bodybuilding over the past few months. I must say that I have lifted weights on and off for awhile. NEVER this much dedication though! It is never too late to start!!! Train hard one of the best shape dudes I know is 61! Check out Bill Grant on BodySpace.
Jim, thank you for dropping by. To answer your question, I had lost my leg a few years before I even dreamt of seeing the inside of a gym. All of my changes came after I had ballooned up in both weight and bodyfat. I hope the program you have works well for you. Take care.
If you would like to make your fitness goals come true and in the next 12 weeks I recommend you look into the Body for Life program. My wife (bodyspace: judimax) went from a size 12/14 to a 4/6 and I lost over 50 Lbs and went from 36 to 10% bodyfat in just 12 weeks by following the BFL program. It is not super easy nor is it so hard that you won’t be able to achieve your goals. We were amazed at the results and you may be too. Let us know if you would like more info.
