Simply put, my weight as of 12/2007 was unacceptable and my blood pressure was also an issue. I just quit smoking about 8 months prior to this, so I figured it couldn't be as hard and I could use my new-found energy for weightlifting and cardio. My long term weight goal is still a mystery to me because I'd like to compete in MMA as a HW one day, but I'm also partial to the idea of LHW. I'd like a happy medium, but honestly as long as my cardio is good and I can see my abs, I'll take it.
Things have been ok...little rocky just before and during Thanksgiving, but I'm back on the right track. I have my first amateur MMA fight coming up January 29th and can't wait! My absolute main focus is cardio and anaerobic threshold, so here I go!
Jiu-Jitsu minimum 3 days per week (one hour per).
Striking minimum 2 days per week (one to two hours).
Resistance training 3 times a week (one hour per).
Cardio is pretty much included in the MMA stuff, but I try to run or Crossfit at least twice a week (10 min or less mile, or long distance ).
You know, I've been doing burpees for years and they've never gotten easier. I hate them with every fiber of my being. Everytime I finish a set of them I feel mentally tougher though. LOL.
