Started moving for just a few minutes, consistently moving up the time/intensity. *Painfully*Taught myself how to run(couldnt run 50 steps, but I'd do that, then walk 100. Repeat for as long as I could until I eventually could run consistently). Started going to classes at the gym, and hired a personal trainer to help teach me the right ways to exercise. Just continually trying to learn more and do better!
Why I Love It:
Makes me feel strong, and free, and capable of anything. I love the way I feel afterwards, the pride of being who I am and doing what I do..
I love the camaraderie of those that workout, especially runners, and the support that they give each other...Love being a part of that.
How I Stay Motivated:
Seeing the success and determination of others; seeing where i've came from.
Keeping focused on my goals!
Know that I've lost 101 pds, and not about to give up now!! Know that there's so much more out there if I keep going..and how I feel(and look!) when I do.
BB Accomplishments:
Well..not bodybuilding, but i ran my first 5k in Oct 08....have ran 4 total...
Joined the US Navy in June 2009!! Took 2 years to get there, but I go to basic in September!!

Just realized that I wear an 8/10 as opposed to 24/26 clothes 2 yrs ago...so my goal is to get in a fit and healthy 4/6!
Goal (Long):
lost from 67%bf to 33% so far....would like to get to 18% one day..., but a good 30% by the end of summer.
Bring my run time down to a 1.5 mile in under 14(without dying!).
Would like to do 5 unassisted pullups...nowhere close now, but that would rock!
umm...mostly to be able to not have to cover up and hide parts that arent so attractive!! Working on that!! :)
Do you tell your friends and/or family about your fitness goals?
Yes
Why or why not?
Sorta. I've never been like "i'm on a diet!" or anything like that. But living in a small community, everyone seems to know what i've been doing, and it's incredible accountability when you cant even go grocery shopping without someone going "how much have you lost so far?" :)Sorta. What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
Find your motivation. Make tangible goals. The scale is NOT a god...use other measures of accomplishments. Dont give up...doesnt matter where you used to be, good or bad, each step in the right direction is an accomplishment. Each good decision is an accomplishment!Find your motivation. How has bodybuilding and fitness helped and/or changed your family life?
My kids think Mom is the coolest now! Having little boys, being physically active is the best way to interact with them..and it's a LOT more fun than video games and TV!
So yesterday was a little crazy...most of it in a very good way.
I participated in our community's 2nd "Iron Spouse Challenge"...essentially they thought of all the 'soldier stuff' and stuck it all together and those of us who signed up got to do it :)
summer in socal is awesome! nothing better than knowing i can ride my bike EVERYDAY and not worry about weather! although i did manage to blow out my front tire this morning so i got the pleasure of carrying my bike a quarter mile to the nearest trolley stop...grrrr
I was stationed in Mannheim for three years. I am currently in San Antonio, doing a two to three year tour. I have about 10 to 12 more years to go in the Army before I retire. I really enjoy it.
That is awesome. Well, the summer has been good. Working on getting my butt into good cardio shape so I can get back in the 14 or 15 minute two mile range. How has your summer been?
It's just breathing underwater, anyone can do it. Nuke is a good way to go, job security, re-enlistment bonus, speciality pay, well funded platforms and a skill you can take to the outside. I hope a slot opens up for you too.
I bet it was! hahaha! It's not so bad.
And on the other...I figured you were kinda "busy". Yep still in the sandbox... R&R in 10 ten to unwind, and then right back again! :) And you thought your cyber friends didn't wonder about ya....shame on u. LOL!
hey there!!!:)) great to heear from you finally!! And Congrats on being accepted....no one doubted that would happen.:) keep bangin it hard! (now more than ever) and please stay in touch!
