When I Started:
Apr, 2003
How I Started:
Girlfriend dumped me with the harshness. Took all aggression and pain and diverted it into the gym. Put together a weight set and bench in my backyard, and never looked back.
Why I Love It:
My muscular strength translates directly to the volleyball court (my true passion). Ever since I started building true, lean muscle, I have never been better on the court. Meet new people, release of stress and agression, keeps my cubical lamenting physique in check.
How I Stay Motivated:
Friends and volleyball. I have a lot of friends who work out and simply talking with them about work out methods and routines keeps that wheel churning upstairs. I constantly want to get better on the volleyball court. Stronger legs means a higher vertical and stronger arms/core means a stronger arm swing (I have never been better on the court than I am now). And also vision. I see that I have the genetic makeup to get to a certain physical level, I want to see if I can attain that certain level if not surpass.
BB Accomplishments:
Over the past year, have consistantly worked out 3-4 days out of the week, every week, aside from recommended time off between major routines (i.e. 4-5 days maybe two or three times in the past year). In that time, I have reached great gains in my vertical and a lot of strength to my arm swing. I now contend with the higher advanced players each time I play, forcing myself to improve everytime I play.

Gain enough Vertical to compete in semi-pro beach volleyball
Goal (Long):
For the longest time, throughout highschool and some college, I was considered small for a volleyball player (both height and strength). This hindered my playing ability in the sense that I couldn't compete against the highly advanced players playing in college. Once I achieve this level on the court, it will directly translate to the sand. Jumping off of a wood (basketball) floor is incredibly easier than jumping out of the sand. Once my hardwood dominance is achieved, mastering the beach is the ultimate.
A good creatine cupplement will go a long way in terms of boost strength, performance and growth. It sounds as if your metabolism is high, so it is very important for you to eat a well balanced diet that has sufficient quality calories to help you grow. For examples your meals should look like this: Steak, Potatoes, veggies, or Chicken, Yams, Veggies, or Eggs, Oatmeal and some fruit and so on.
Hope that helps.
I can help you with a solid supplement program and get you the right trainer. Although, your budget is always the key.
I can provide basic guidelines free of charge that may help too.
Sorry for the time in my reply.
Yes, I really can. However, it depends on what you can afford to spend and what your goals are. PB World Gym is great, because you can have a private trainer without the gym getting a cut and it is a real gym (not a fitness center), which allows for more diversity in your training. Also, the enviornment is more of a focused goal oriented one.
Well some professional athletes are forced to workout even on game days to prevent injuries or something like that. I would combine powerlifting and plyometrics because you are focusing on training the muscle that you already have and making it perform better I wouldn't try weight lifting and plyomentrics since I never really did that during my training. If you ever watch FIT TV there is a show on the AVP stars and you can see their workouts and Holly McPeaks workout is AMAZING!
I actually kind of made one up that also strengthens your block. find the cable cross machine and set both parallel to eachother and lowest to the ground. grab the two handles and act like you would doing a squat, except on your way up also bring your arms up into block position. like the motion for jumping, but with resistance. try it out
After one week of plyometrics and powerlifting combined I would go into weight lifting for the next week. That involved a lot of squats, lunges, box squats, one legged squats, leg press, calf raises and you get the idea. Then the next week back to plyometrics and powerlifting.
Let me know how you do and goodluck!
laters man
Powerlifting: I did it 3 times a week and I would start with weight I could do 8x's then 7'x then 6x's etc until max. I did a lot of clean and jerk stuff, with the bars and I also did dumbell clean and jerks. Over head snatch is also another good one. a lot of ab work as fast as possible since the core is where you will get all your power from. Oh and using something to make you balance is the best thing you can do

I did a lot of plyometrics, powerlifting and weight lifting combined.
Plyometrics:
Hundreds of box jumping...and various box heights, jumping with one leg or jumping over the boxes instead of on top of them. I also did a lot of foot work with agility things hahaha. I also jumped from the highest box to the ground and exactly when I landed I would take quick runs. I did a lot of power squats when you take 20% of your max in squatting and jump jump jump jump untill you can't do it anymore. If
Yeah, I worked so hard in burning off fat that I burned off a lot of muscle as well. Oh well, live and learn.
NO Xplode is great, but for me it seemed that after using it for a while it lost its effectiveness. I haven't used it in over a month now and am ready to give it another try.
