When I Started:
How I Started:
I started lifting weights in high school just to get stronger. But back then if you asked me about muscle glycogen or protein synthesis I would have looked at you oddly. Now I'm more well educated, and I'm using that knowledge as a weapon.
Why I Love It:
I just love the challenge mainly. I have fun doing it too, it helps with stress. Also I admire fitness athletes, I love watching Worlds Strongest Man and UFC. I admire their determination with their fitness level and how much they put in. Recently more full body movement exercises have been catching my eye. Especially using medicine balls and kettle bells. That may be a new part of my regiment.
How I Stay Motivated:
I read articles, look at other peoples success and say to myself "You've been through a lot in your life. If they can do it you certainly can." Also with how far I've come already and seeing results are possible with a reasonable diet and fun training.
I've come this far, there is no turning back now. Ever.
Goal (Long):
A fitness goal is great to have but it needs a reason behind it. I've been heavy most of my life and recently I was on the verge of 300 pounds and I started having chest pain. I know I'm young and that it more than likely wouldn't have killed me. But I still didn't want a shortened life or even to end up with diabetes. I knew I had to do something, not just for myself but for the people that love me. I can't be a good uncle to my nephews and niece if I can't keep up with them or if I'm ill. Also it's obvious fitness plays a huge role in physical attraction which is important to a relationships. I started my journey at 296 pounds. My original goal was 250 by the middle of July, on this July 15th I'm 237 pounds. I've made such great progress but as I see it, the harder weight to lose is right around the corner. So my journey is probably barley half over. At least I'm to the point where I don't feel awful if I have to take my shirt off to swim. My next goal was suppose to be 220 by xmas, but I think with my progress weight I'm going to shoot for 210, then my next goal after that is to see at least a little form of my abs by summer 08.
I failed to mention long ago that my best friend and training partner really lost interest in training. I've been training by myself for months now, I had actually grown to like it more. However we all know when you have that training partner they push you through plateaus and give you that...
I've made up this new workout, more like HITT type lifting. I call it Big 6's. I start out at a low weight on the particular exercise. Lets say tricep pulldowns (one of my favs), starting at 50 pounds, I do 6 reps, taking 6 breaths, then after the set I take 6 deep breaths as my rest while I...
OH suuure! I see how it is... You just want everyone to see how awesome you become when your alittle lighter... suure make the bodyspace people wait. hahaha :P just pulling your leg
...i tried about 249protein/157carbs/61fat on LOW DAYS (three) and 2551calories/185pro/336carbs/5 8fat on HIGH DAYS (one)....so i went three low and then one high, then repeated....i found it on TOM VENUTO's "burn the fat, feed the muscle" ...check it out...how was your carb cyclying? any shedded pounds as oppose to the typical 40/40/20 diet?
Hey ROOSTER....how did that macronutrient carb cyclying turn out? was it what you expected? did you feel any up and downs? bloating? was it easy to stay on?
I so agree with the resturants! You ask for nice veggies and they look at you strangely and say they don't have them. I was lucky I got carrots and califlower last time I went out haha. Or you order something that sounds heatlhy and its all fried and greesy or they have most of the plate with french fries. I usually try to have a cheat meal once a week so I don't go insane haha
So we were in the same boat when we were younger then! Why is it that 230's is hard to get out of? haha
Hey Roos!I just wanted to thank you for referring me to this site. It looks really cool and there seems to be a lot of stuff for me to look up on here. I think the exercise area is awesome. See ya!
Yeah something or other, I mean I'm not supposed to eat while I work but I get hungry like every hour so sometimes I sneak small stuff in every now and then :D But nothing good enough obviously. I think if I could eat more it'd help me out a lot since I seem to have hit a rut in my weight gaining.
Yeah the only thing I hate is being at work really limits my food intake because of my crazy metabolism I'm not getting enough food in me to make a real difference.
