When I Started:
Mar, 2006
How I Started:
At first, just wanted to get a six pack, since I've never had one. Realized that running wasn't going to work, and did some research. Added weights, and learned to focus on lifting. Now I'm eating/lifting to gain mass, then will diet next spring for deeper cuts. If I can get a six pack, my reward is skydiving for the first time.
Why I Love It:
I run out of energy faster than some people, this gives me the boost I need to get through the day. Food seems a bit obvious: eat healthy, feel healthy. But working out hard - that's a paradox. You spend so much energy in the gym - and somehow have more through the day. That's the best feeling in the world. "Fitter, happier, more productive," ~ Radiohead, that's my motto.
How I Stay Motivated:
When I don't eat well or exercise, I feel a bit sluggish, so its easy to go back. When I'm not pushing hard enough in the gym, I get back online to sites like Bodybuilding.com - the transformations always get me pumped up and learning new exercises for the same muscle groups adds variety. I've been a pretty timid guy my whole life, pumping iron builds self confidence.
