It all started during my Junior year of high school (1986). I was looking to put on more size to prepare for the upcoming football season, as college coaches were taking a harder look at recruiting me. As weightlifting increased, along with strength gains, size was still lacking. Eventually topped at at 155 lbs (not very big for college football). However, everyone noticed that I had gotten more muscular. Finally, a local gym owner convinced me to enter his show, the 1986 Southern USA. I have competed every since.
Why I Love It:
Bodybuilding has taught me so much through the years. After college, and collegiate athletics, I was kind of lost in finding ways to fuel my competitiveness. The sport of bodybuilding allows me to do so and I enjoy the results tremendously.
How I Stay Motivated:
My biggest critics are my daughter and myself. I am constantly in competition to do better each time i enter the gym or step onstage. Having competed against now established and retired professionals such as Flex Wheeler and Chris Cormier (was fairly discourages when I moved to CA) I became frustrated with just being "consistent" with top 10 placings and stopped competing. Now I feel a need to once again prove that I can be competitive in this sport. and that preparing for competition and achieving my personal best on contest day is very empowering.

Today, I head into my "off-season" with enthusiasm and concern. First, I am truly excited about starting new programs and seeing how far my body is willing to extend. I don't plan to "jump" into another weight class (middleweight fits me fine), but I will be a...
Hey, buddy!
I am doing great, thanks! I just finished a "bulking" cycle....6 weeks, and put on 30 pounds! (I went from 163 pounds to 192 pounds!) That's the most weight I've ever gained in such a short time, and am STILL fitting into a size 32-inch waist! At 192 pounds, and being only 5'6" in height, that's the biggest I've been in my life.
I am now slowly beginning to transition into my next "cutting" phase, to prepare for my next competition in November.
Hey Ray! Thanks for wanting to re-add me to your new bodyspace. :-) To bad you lost your old login info...you could not get it from BB.com???? Hope you had an awesome 4th! Talk to you soon! xoxo Tamar
