When I Started:
Jan, 2008
How I Started:
I started exercising because I was tired of being overweight and out of shape. I started doing aerobics with friends after school, but it was my brother who suggested that I try lifting weights.
Why I Love It:
I love working out, it gives me such a high. And the results have been phenomenal - I've lost over 30 pounds and can finally run a lap around the track without feeling like my heart is going to explode. I have never felt so good or looked so good in my life and I love that I did it without any crazy dieting or drugs.
How I Stay Motivated:
I realized that I am ultimately responsible for my own body and that if I want that swimsuit body, then I have to be the one that pushes myself to get it, no one else can do it for me.
BB Accomplishments:
I was able to pass my school's physical fitness challenge after failing it last year.

I want to have a body that I can show off at the beach this summer.
Goal (Long):
My short term goal is to tighten up my body so I will be ready to wear my first bikini EVER this summer- I really wanted to be noticed. My long term goal is to receive the Presidential Fitness award this coming fall, so I need to work harder on my weak areas- running (improving my mile time to 8:00 or better), doing 40 sit-ups in a min, improving my flexibility and, if I have time, learning to do a pull-up.
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 15 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
16%

What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
I was hesitant to start lifting weights because it meant working out with the guys and I was worried about what they would think, so I started off only doing cardio and light dumbbells. I neglected to work my weaker areas in the beginning, esp. my upper body. And my diet was an absolute mess.I was hesitant to start lifting weights because it meant working out with the guys and I was worried about what they would think, so I started off only doing cardio and light dumbbells. What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Girls can and should lift weights, don't let the boys stop you!

Workout Program:
I generally workout with friends immediately after school, 3 days a week. I start with 30 minutes of weight training, mostly machines and dumbbells, 3 sets of 10-12 reps. I follow that with 30 minutes of cardio on the treadmill, moderate intensity. I always end with 15 minutes of stretching...
hey girl! you're totally welcome for the add. congrats on passing the phys ed test! i used to be really athletic in school, but my body pooped out on me after i wasn't required to take any health classes. so it was really hard for me to get my body back and especially because i LOVE food! diets are a hard area for me, too! let me know where you're struggling exactly you think!
I definitely understand friends not getting the commitment, but the good one's will stick around and support you. Yep I am competing soon! Hopefully, I'll be ready! Let me know if you need any tips or anything!
Hey! Thanks for the add! I think it's awesome that you are interested in fitness at such a young age! I wish I woulda known about bodybuilding when I was younger! Let me know if there is anything I can do for ya! Good luck with everything!
I didn't even realize it was a sport until about 2 years ago myself. Its really big in every other continent than north america. And its even bigger in Canada than it is in the US however its beginning to take hold slowly. At your age I never thought about being an athlete, let alone have a goal to be a professional one someday, but as you grow in strength and mind and doors start to open you may just find its well worth the effort.
Well, whatever you decide, competition or just part of a healthy lifestyle, good luck and take your time to learn proper technique. Have a qualified coach teach you the right way to do things.
Yes, yes it is a tire, its my baby tire. It weighs about 725-750 lbs and I use it to warm up for heavy tire flips. I'm a competitive strongman, so odd objects and impliments are what I do to get strong and stay healthy.
