Worked out in highschool. Worked as a trainer at Gold's Gym before going to grad school, but I just recently started getting more serious about (1) racing faster/more often, and (2) looking as I really want to.
Why I Love It:
Work hard - Play hard. Being active is the only way I can let go of the days events.
How I Stay Motivated:
BB Accomplishments:
I have run three marathons, three sprint tri's, a duathlon, two half marathons, and a mess of shorter races. I am currently training for the New Orleans Ironman.

Goal (Long):

-balance
(1) the Half Ironman in New Orleans April 5th 2009
- my swimming still needs some work. I know I can run 13.1 miles and I recently completed
a metric century, so the bike shouldn't be bad either.
(2) a sub 3:30 marathon by May 2009
- trying to fit in weekly trackworkouts and short races. Recently had a PR on a 5k, 21:27 - not bad!!!!
- shooting for a 19m 5k in the next two months to show improved speed.
-Mardi Gras Marathon is going to be my race.
(3) what I am calling my "Men's Health Abs"
- new routine seems to be working, just need time now. Cleaned up my diet a lot. I now fore go my 2-3 weekly beers.
(4) a hundred mile Ultramarathon by the end of 2009
- looking at a 50k this winter as a first step.
(5) a full Ironman by the end of 2010.
-more steps toward this goal after my half IM in April.

Bodyfat Goal:

I lift around 3 days a week, I swim 3, bike 2 or 3, and run 3 or 4. I always have at least one day off. Every couple of weeks, and before races I take two or three (four if I am into it) days off. Generally these are rough weeks. I miss my routine.I lift around 3 days a week, I swim 3, bike 2 or 3, and run 3 or 4. I always have at least one day off. Lift Monday, Wednesday, Saturday
- currently grouping Back & Bi's, Chest and Tri's, and Legs. Shoulders either go with Back & Bi's or Chest and Tri's depending on which is less intense that week.
I have been doing track workouts with http://www.catch22trackclub.com/ on Tuesdays. ...
No, I don't plan on any endurance races this year or next. I do run/bike/swim once per week now. Really focused on gaining some muscle. I would like to get "up" to about 140#, 6% body fat for a show this year.

Had a great time running CIM yesterday. The weather was perfect: 40 degrees, no wind, cloudy. I had a solid run and didn't slow down until the last two miles.
How's triathlon training going? Do you emphasize one discipline over the others?
I've heard that about CIM, and since I live next to the course I'm familiar with the terrain. Fortunately it's pretty gentle over the last 8 miles, when I'm expecting my legs to give me a hard time. Good luck on your half ironman. I've only completed an Olympic distance triathlon, and that was hard enough for me.
Not too much training going on here. Our running season is done. It is -14C out right now with a windchill of -22C. I'll run the track indoors until spring, although it is not my favourite. I used to take each winter off completely, now I just cut back.
The new Orleans 70.3? Sounds fabulous! I've been thinking about traveling a bit more to do races and such. and a 100 mile ultra? whoa, I did a 50k trail run, and it kicked my royal @!#!!! 5 hours and 15 minutes, .. but I think I didn't train enough on the trails. I'm thinking I need to incorperate some crossfit this winter to help with the ironman distance training, whats your take on that?
Dude, awesome profile! gratz on the marathons, and it seems like you've caught the addictive bug called triathlon! haha. yes, I love triathlon, completed a few half im's, and signed up for a full next year. Crossfit? I love it, but don't currently train it, my brother owns a gym in Oregon, so I love visiting him to do more of it, but it's expensive to go to a gym, when most of triathlon training can be done outside
Rich, man, thank you for asking. My best wishes for you in your half marathon, focus in your pre race hydration, set your goals by milestones, and may your good training render the best results. First God, may Phiddipidies run by your side. If not him any of the great running legends be.
2008 will go to the history books as my worse running year to date! Hurt badly my knee, fell sick one week before the 22 km half marathon I was training for mid year, had a bad case of diarrhoea days before the Guanacaste marathon, and for the last couple of weeks due to the season change I had a bad case of asthma, Thank God, I'm still in one piece and training for a better 2009
