I'm working to transform 30lbs. of fat into upper body muscle. I am lifting free weights about 1-1 1/2 hours at a time 4 times a week. I live in MN so right now is very cold. when may comes around and is time to start wearing shorts and no shirt I wont be embarrased to take off shirt. I will have no more spare tire by then.
Do you tell your friends and/or family about your fitness goals?
Yes
Why or why not?
when you talk about what you are doing it helps keep me motivated, and people give you support when you tell them about it, or advice about exercises that they have done from there experience

What tricep workout has worked best for you?
using curl bar, and arm bar during same workout to maximize strength
And then get a training programme that includes resistance training 3-4 times a week (you need to work on EVERYTHING), since building more muscle mass will help increase your metabolism, and thus aid you in burning fat. You can also do cardio too (I would recommend HIIT for 20 mins 3 times a week), but resistance work is more important than that.
You CAN'T spot reduce! I would recommend that you STOP focussing on your waist/abs! Make sure that you get your DIET sorted first and foremost, because this is 90%+ of losing fat!!!
Steve, you DON'T need to do abs 3-4 times a week to build the muscle up. Twice is enough, if you do it right. And if you try making your workouts no longer than 45-60 minutes would be better than 90 minutes. And DIET is the key thing in ANY body goal; make sure you get that right for your goal. Good luck. Goes to show that it's never too late to start anything!
