When I Started:
Jun, 2008
How I Started:
It's been a while (since October 2007) since I've been working out. I've decided that it's time for me to get my fat ass back into the gym.
Why I Love It:
Basically, because in the end I will have the body that I want. When I go to the gym and see my strength increasing it makes me feel confident and strong. I am a little girl so sometimes it surprises people (myself included) when I can lift as much as I do. And as much as I hate cardio/running I always feel so much better and more accomplished when I have completed it. So sometimes it is like pulling teeth to get me to do it (I try to find excuses here and there) but once I actually get to gym and complete it, I feel much better about myself.
How I Stay Motivated:
For now I just want to keep up with the cardio and then when I get that where I want it, maybe I'll move on and go back to lifting some weights...but slow and steady for now. The gym is on my way to and from work so I figure that there shouldn't be any excuse why I can't go there, even for as little as 30 minutes a day.
BB Accomplishments:
Well, I don't have any as of lately...unless you include the ability to scarf down an entire bag of kettle cooked potato chips in one sitting. :] Hah.

I am trying to flex my legs but you can't really tell. Also, my abs are flexed. I don't know if anybody else sees it, but I see a little bit of what one could call an ab or two in there. I like my tummy better when it's flexed because it's flatter. Hopefully I will someday be able to not...
For now I just want to lose the extra weight I've gained through cardio and some light lifting to tone the rest of my body. Any tips/ideas? Help me out! :]
Goal (Long):
I want to lose approx. 10-15 lbs. I want to slim down my thighs so that they don't touch, get rid of the dimples in my butt, develop my abs so I can see them for the first time ever (without having to suck in my tummy), build upper body muscle (arms/shoulders) so I can alter my measurements and become more proportionate, lose my love handles and saddlebags. Overall: transform my physique so that I am in the best shape of my life. I want to improve my diet. I am the pickiest person alive so I want to broaden my horizons (a little...) and keep the improvements long term.
What do you think about people who "grunt" loudly while working out? Do you do it?
It makes me giggle sometimes but I guess it's a good thing because they're working or a bad thing if they use too much weight.

What type of outfit do you usually wear when you workout? Why?
Soccer shorts and a t-shirt. It's the most comfortable and it's easy to move in. I don't really like when I see girls that are walking around in spandex shorts and their sports bra so I don't want to be like that. It's the gym, not a nightclub so go put some clothes on.Soccer shorts and a t-shirt. It's the most comfortable and it's easy to move in. Holy crap. Mike kicked my ass today. Seriously. I did: leg extensions, hack squat, leg press, leg curls, abductors, adductors, one leg lying leg curls, and calf raises. I could barely walk by the end. It's a good thing that I did cardio this morning because I definately am going to...
I'm working with the personal trainer at the gym to come up with new workouts for me. So far we made a new chest/back workout and I have a pretty good bi/tri workout. Wednesday we're going to do legs and I can work shoulders in somewhere.
I guess my advice for him would be eat lots but keep it healthy. Eat lots of protein, I usually get in about 250g a day. I would tell him to not make the mistake of overtraining (I did this for a while). And keep rep range in 8-10 for maximum gains. As for looking familar i workout at the 4 mile fork sport&health so maybe youve seen me there.
Goin well, I'm new to bodyspace and I was searching people in fredericksburg...theres very few of us. Looks like you're doing well, keep up the good work!
Thanks for the compliment on my progress. How is yours coming along? Like you, I haven't had much time, if anyy, to read people's blogs. It sucks because I always find them entertaining too. Later- JT
Good for you.
Thanks for noticing the progress. I kinda feel obligated to keep progressing because I have all my BodySpace friends checking in on me. Can't let them down right?
I'm sure everyone that reads your goals is going to tell you that you don't do one before the other. Weight loss and weight lifting compliment each other.
Well on the bright side your muscles are telling you they are being used. Make sure you are getting ENOUGH SLEEP, and eating. I learned from personal experince that when you don't get enough your body feels tired and fatigued, and never really recovered.
Hope I can help

Mine was great too. My kids got to see their first fireworks show, they loved it. worked sucked for me as well. I took friday off and worked the rest of the weekend to make up for it. Oh-well. Hey, I didn't eat crappy (well, I has a thin-ass slice of cheesecake. But, I regret that. In an hour I was doubled over-ha.0 at all and I didn't touch any alcohol. I was stoked about that. progress is good.
