Overall Goal: I was a size 20 when I started my weight loss journey. I'm a size 4 now (and still can't believe it!) Next goal: compete! I wanna be in the Women's Tri-Fitness in 2010!...and do an unassisted pullup...whichever comes first. HA!
Fit Status:
had to pull some serious strings, but finally got permission to take professional pix at my gym! Woohoo!
I finally got to meet my mentor, the man who taught me everything I know about my current profession. We had our picture taken by a bystander after my camera died.
When the pix were finally emailed to me...I was devestated. I smoked 2 packs a day, ate like there was no tomorrow, and it showed!
This guy had no idea how much of an impact he'd made on my life because I physically looked like I'd "checked out" and stopped caring a long time ago! But that wasn't the case!
That day I began the Couch to 5K running program from coolrunning.com and have been making permanent changes in my health and welfare ever since.
Why I Love It:
I love doing something that will mold, sculpt, and push me towards all of the best things that life has to offer.
Being confident in my appearance creates a ripple-effect in other areas of my life: my business, my family, everything!
And besides, how GREAT do you feel after a muscle-burning, fat-kicking, good ol' fashioned workout? Hello!
How I Stay Motivated:
I have a written set of goals I keep on the wall next to my mirror. I look at them daily.
I keep my fitness gear in plain site so I can constantly look at it and long to put it back on and do more.
I know what I want and how far I've come. Nothing's holding me back but me and I'm getting the hell outta my own way! :)
BB Accomplishments:
I'm a regularly contributing author on bodybuilding.com! Look me up on the authors page!

This was taken at a business meeting. My skin is so full of all that bodyfat that it looks like I'm about to explode out of it. This was the beginning of my recognition that things needed to change.
I think my smile says more than the scale ever could.

Goal (Long):
I will not stop so close to the finish line. I've got 5 pounds left to lose in order to meet my goal weight.
I have started seeing a lot more definition in my muscles and have ramped up my resistance training program to ensure that happens.
I will update my profile pic at the end of November and I WILL SEE changes in my body. Woohoo!
Regardless of obstacles that would've made even the toughest men buckle, she hasn't let anything stop her from attaining her goals! She makes me wanna work harder and more diligently!
"The Skinny On..." is a weekly series of webisodes created by Rachel Young, author of What if You Were Thin. This week we're discussing how to Get Started on your weight loss goals - and what you may be doing to sabotage them!
I stopped by to wish you nothing but success as you work towards your fitness goal. Too many people think it can’t be done and so they sit on the couch and don't even try, but you are different you are proving that with hard work and dedication it can be. Keep up the great work. I look forward to watching your continuing progress. You are a great inspiration to so many others at a time when it's needed most. Stay strong, focused and determined.
You're wonderful, and I adore you're writing style. Many kudos on your transformation, you look incredibly beautiful. Keep up the great work, and many mahalos for your wonderful posts. :)
Thank-you so much! I'm going to have to try that book! I have something to look forward to now. Does your gym have kettleballs supplied? Mine are only available for classes :(
That is such a good idea! Pullup avi for posterity! LoL... I've been curious about kettle ball training. I might check it out after this 12 week program. Glad to hear you are smashing your lats, you'll hit that goal in no time!
Hello again lady! LoL How are the pullups going? I'm managing to almost make 3x12 assisted pullups so I'm looking to decrease the "assistant" again. I'm-a gonna DO this! :D Have a great day!
Who is that person next to you in the avi?? She doesn't even look related to you. lol Funny about you son, I remember those days when I wished my moustache was coming in.
Thank you Rachel for stopping by! As I read about your beloved uncle, sitting here in the Persian Gulf, I am reminded of all of the great men and women who came before me. I have no doubt your uncle exemplified the best of those who have served so proudly. As I look out over the windswept Desert tonight…you will be in my thoughts
Not bad. I've finally reached the point beyond depression and feelings of being selfish to where I am hitting this full force! I'm so excited! My eating has been dead on and I'm following a 12 week program that just happens to conclude on my birthday (and that was accidental!) I don't know if I'll make my goal by Feb 11/10 BUT I sure as hell am trying! LoL and if not: I'll just keep going! :D
So sorry for your loss! You def are in my prayers girl! I was told yesterday my cousin's husband has 3-6 months to live and my fav Uncle is dieing too! Hang in there!! God Bless!
