How I Started:
I used to lift a lot in high school and college for sports and fun.
Why I Love It:
I love lifting because you get to challenge yourself and see your progress in real time. I also love the compounding nature of the benefits of lifting; mentally and physically.
How I Stay Motivated:
I try to break it up in to long and short term goals. With each passing milestone, you get to see where you've come from, while having the long term goals still pushing you.

I would like to get down to 225 pounds with 13% body fat or less within 1 year.
Goal (Long):
During and after college, injuries and lack of discipline have caused me to gain an unacceptable amount of weight.
I have had my shoulder repaired and now would like to lose all the weight I've gained over the last 15 years.
Currently I am within 'healthy' ranges for things like blood pressure and cholesterol, but I know I won't be in those ranges if I don't lose some weight. I don't have any responsibilities currently and it will never be easier for me.
WELCOME Q! And best wishes on getting that shoulder strong...again. I am 8 months post-op Reconstructive ACL surgery so I know it s*cks to be out so long (6 months, me too). Well, I'm back (2 mos.) and u will be too. Take it Slow... and we'll be checking on ur much anticipated Progress. *smile*
