How I Started:
We had a weight loss challenge in the newspaper I work for. The owners of the local gym invited me and the other two girls to work out for free for three months. I had always been REALLY intimidated by bodybuilders- this helped me realize that I was judging them, rather than them judging me. Now, I can't get enough of it. I just need to develop more discipline.
Why I Love It:
I love working out and going to the gym, because it boosts my confidence even before it changes the way I look. The adrenaline rush is mad, and the people are cool.

This was taken in January of '08. I was about 230 lbs. Yuck. You can't even tell that my eyes are open! Fat hiding my eyes! Yeesh....
This was taken in March. I hadn't made much progress, but I had made SOME. (Believe it or not.) I had been trying to get my excercise just by walking. This was my first day to lift weights. It was fun, but I thought I'd die! Ha/Ha

Goal (Long):
I've been given sideways compliments my whole life. For example, people will say, "You have a pretty face." If I weren't so fat it would just be "You're pretty."
I want to build a body to match that "pretty face." I want to lose 90 lbs. of fat, slowly. I also want to build enough muscle that I don't look like a stack of marshmallows!

I followed my diet STRICTLY for the previous five or six days. Unfortunately, this weekend sent me into an emotional eating binge like nobody's business. What IS that? Food makes nothing better - actually makes them worse. But for some reason when I cry I reach for a bag of cheese puffs instead...

Yeah, it is going amazing so far. So much energy, life is really taking a 180 and I'm pretty sure it is mostly related to the training. Passed the 100 pound lost mark :) Hope everything is going well with you!
You know, you're RIGHT that eating so often is work ... I'm still trying to master that. I just started a new course at school so I tend to forget to eat - not good. And yep, I'll be hitting the gym later tonight and tomorrow, then a rest day :D Glad to hear of your progress!! Way to go!!
Thanks. I read your profile and saw what you wrote about the "sideways comments", and can totally relate. I've always been the triple F (funny fat friend). That's how I actually got the nickname phaterik, or phat-e for short. Yeah, they call me fatty. Not for much longer though.
Hey There!! thanks for the compliment on my new picture ... I can't see much difference but everyone else tells me my face looks a lot slimmer in it. Things are going great for me at the gym - starting to lose weight again FINALLY so the motivation is coming back. You??
Thank you for the comment... btw, we started off in the same place weight wise plus I'm only 5ft1!! So... we're pretty close. A suggestion if you don't mind. What was your graduating weight? Mine was 165 and I looked GOOD!! per Dr's suggestion, that's my goal. Don't go for what the magical "they" say you should be, go for where you're comfortable,healthy and happy!! Keep up the great work!!
