When I Started:
How I Started:
I've been working out, off and on, for years, varying cardio and lifting. I received a weight lifting set when I was in 7th grade, but sadly such things didn't come with instructions on how to use it, videos/CDs. Finally, 31 years later I finally hired a trainer this February. Four months and 30 sessions later I finally have a clue.
Why I Love It:
I've been a diabetic for 30 years, so staying healthy is just plain important. Plus, like many of the blogs on this site state, there's a pretty good feeling after lifting. Am I ever going to enter a competition? Nope. That would be a bit distracting, considering my vocation.
How I Stay Motivated:
My trainer, Kerry, gosh, way to go, guy for keeping me motivated and encouraging me. You're the best. A couple weeks after I finished with the trainer I was in the weight room finishing up, and one of the regulars came up to me and told me he could tell the difference. That was worth $750 bucks right there.
BB Accomplishments:
Hey, just showing up, getting the gloves on and doing it is pretty good at age 43. No comments, by the way, on the whole body hair thing. It isn't going away. Yeah, yeah, I know, in the bbing world smooth is good, but some of us have spouses to keep happy, too. Oh, and for some of us, well, hair maintenance is a bit time consuming. To you bald and/or smooth guys out there wanting hair, really, it is highly over rated. Enjoy the low maintenance.

As a Christian, I also know it's hard to keep a sensible balance. I say, don't let your physical condition keep you from doing all that God asks of you. We are all walking sermons.

Hey man. Thanks for the pic comment. I spent some time in Laramie a few years back. I absolutely love Vedauwoo, can't get enough of it there. I'm going to be moving out to CO in April so i'll be able to visit Vedauwoo a bit more.

Good play on words. A local churche's reader board has "Exercise daily, walk with God". I thought it was great especially in light of some missed days recently due to my wife having surgery. Take care.

Hey Preacher how goes the workouts? You look to be making good progress and I congratulate you. You also look to enjoy sunning yourself on a nice rock from time to time also. Take carer and enjoy the journey.

Hey thanks for your comment. After I took the pics I was a bit hesitant to post them--I thought I looked better than I (apparently) actually do, haha. I knew I had to take some before pics because I'd be kicking myself a few months down the road if I didn't. The Y has a pretty good setup where I am. I really like it. I have found during certain times that it's extremely busy though, so I usually go 8:30-10:00 PM. Take it easy!
