First went to a Gold's Gym as a guest of a friend back in High School. Lifted on and off since but mostly off in recent years. Became rededicated on October 29, 2007 after blood tests showed cholesterol and liver problems. Decided to give up all the partying, laziness, and self destructive behavior and regain my mental and physical strength. Any negative thoughts or energy are now used for fuel in the gym rather than to fuel self pity or anger.
Why I Love It:
I love the constant challenge of having to outdo your last workout and the sense of pride when you achieve it. The confidence that comes with overcoming that challenge every workout and seeing yourself constantly improving, getting stronger, and looking better and healthier. There's no greater feeling than when you challenge yourself to lift more weight than you think possible and you somehow manage to push it out!
How I Stay Motivated:
By comparing myself to all the people on here or in the real world who are bigger, stronger, more ripped, or have more accomplishments under their belt. By knowing how much it sux to know you've wasted time and potential by quitting, being lazy, or being too scared. Quitting is no longer an option! Fear is no longer an excuse!

You are on the mark with everything you say about positive thinking in your blog Ryan. I'm trying to think positively too, and its often hard when there is no much negative energy in the world coming at you. I'm convinced that bodybuilding is a workout for the mind just as much as the body. The more you workout, the more positive your attitude becomes, the better results you have, the better you feel, and the positive cycle continues. Keep it up!
