When I Started:
Jun, 2006
How I Started:
I started on my own just to lose some weight in 2005, but then got sick and stopped for several months. After meeting someone who had been as large as me and had transformed into a lean 165lb buff guy, I said if he can do it so can I. Its better to be working out with him, as he has been there. So its not like taking advice from someone thats always been in shape. He understands the psychological aspects of someone going through what I am much better.
Why I Love It:
It took a while to see progress. At first I kept saying I need to measure my progress not by how I looked, but by how I felt. The more I did the better I felt. But now Im seeing significant visible progress. At the end of a long day at work, I look forward to going to the gym. It reenergizes me after a long mentally tiring day. It also helps me sleep better at night.
How I Stay Motivated:
At first it was hard. Luckily I had a workout partner that kept me going. Now its easy. In fact he tells people that at first he pushed me hard, and now Im pushing him harder.
BB Accomplishments:
When I started, my max bench was 165. Now its 230. My biceps are now 15.5". My legs are cut and great looking. My upper body is getting some good muscle mass and definition. My waist size has gone down by 6 inches.

My favorite quotes:
I drank what?
I lift weights because they don't lift themselves.
There are plenty of weights still to the right side of the rack.
Heres a green pill for ya.
Ok. So like lots of people do, I had gone out and gotten some goal clothes. You know a nice shirt and a pair of jeans that were a size that I would love to be able to fit in again.
So I had gone to American Eagle and got a Medium white button up shirt and a pair of 32 inch pants. I said...

we have the same goals... and also seem to be stuck as well.
Thanks for the comment. Looks like you’ve made some terrific progress yourself! I was at 185lbs at my smallest before I decided to start adding a few pounds so from personal experience it’s definitely possible, just keep up the great work. On a side note, I was in Nashua a few years ago for some Pro/E training and it’s really beautiful up in your neck of the woods.
