today's feels
OVERALL RATING
I took 3 rest days before my #strongman competition to rest up for the explosive heavy lifting. Each athlete was graded on a point system by ether how fast they moved or how much weight was lifted and how many times. I didn't want to but I also took 3 rest days post competition as well. I would always get the worst anxiety after a rest day, waking up in the morning expecting to see all of my progress somehow disappear. But, that's not the case. The body needs to be rested so it can rebuild and repair muscles. Sometimes I have to remind myself that what I have worked so hard for cannot be bought, or borrowed, it cannot be stolen. It comes solely from working hard consistently even when I may not feel like it, and eating clean even when I want to give in to temptation (although I allowed myself to fully enjoy those 3 rest days ????) but i have to remind myself again that it also cannot be undone by taking a rest day or 3. My body was sore, bruised and cut up from the comp, now I feel good and ready?????I cannot wait to get back in there today and move some weight around! And for the women that keep telling me to "be careful, you don't want to get manly..." please back off. Every muscle I have I put there, it doesn't just happen and it doesn't happen easily. Women who make the choice to bulk up and get big have to specifically train for that both in the gym and in the kitchen. I just want to be lean and mean :)
