When I Started:
Aug, 2003
How I Started:
I grew up competing in gymnastics, surrounded by hulking men at a young age. I wanted their strength and size. I got out of gymnastics and took up competitive swimming, which I did for about 7 years. I was a lean, athletic 160 pound swimmer when I graduated high school. I loved the weight room, and always wanted to get bigger. When I got to college, I learned about nutrition. As soon as I learned that, I started getting the size and definition I had always wanted. After starting college at 163 pounds, I graduated in 2006 at 205 pounds. My waist was the same size as it was four years earlier: 31".
Why I Love It:
I love the journey, where I get to learn something new about myself every time I step into a gym. I love the control and mastery over my body I get from it.
How I Stay Motivated:
Reading magazines like Iron Man, looking at old and new pictures of myself, and my wife who is just as nutty about fitness.

Running the Indianapolis Half Marathon. I was roughly 165 in this picture. Not too long after this I started learning about nutrition, and the rest is history. Don't let the picture fool you, I'd rather go to the dentist than run.
My greatest success in bodybuilding has very little to do with me. I’ve worked as a trainer before, and as any trainer can tell you, your clients are always something of a mixed bag. Many get frustrated because they don’t see overnight results, or many just don’t want to apply...
I wrote this as a mass building program. Obviously, I'm a big believer in volume. I never feel like I bring myself to absolute failure; the mind will quit before the body will. I get around that with volume and by using drop sets to crank up my intensity. Also, I like using many 'old...
thats good bro as for me we got a competition comming up in oct. then i go on leave to NC then cali to visit the fam. I just won the bench contest with 400ibs the dude didn't let me try for 425ibs
LOL..hey no problem, good to see you back. ..you've done your duty and hopefully things can get back to normal. Glad to hear you're eating real food again..lol ;) I'm doing good thanks.. progress is slow in summer - too many distractions ya know? ;)
Just getting a good night's sleep should help you a lot in any event! I loved Hawaii - just got back from the "big Island" today and already miss it! But, since my family, friends, etc. are here I guess it's good to be home.
Welcome back - I'm glad you made it safely! Do you get a few days of rest before resuming duty? In addition to everything else good about being back I'm sure you're anxious to really crank up your training again too!
Nothing much going on with me, oh, except that I'll be leaving for a vacation in Hawaii about the time you are heading home! Training-wise, things are going well, my waist is shrinking for the first time in recent memory (ie this decade) and my bench is going up ahead of my goals. I know you're excited to get back for many reasons but I'm sure it will be good to be in a regular gym and eat well again!
massive guns, man. your stats are super impressive. great work out details -- but no cardio? what do you credit your definition to? must be that damn Iraq heat! big shout out to you for your bb efforts and an even bigger shout out for your service to our country, brother. you are impressive in more ways than one!
I saw your new profile picture staring at me from my friends panel and thought I'd just drop a note - let's see I believe you are down to just 8 or 9 days more, right? Is the profile pic new? Shoulders, and pecs still appear to be in good shape if it is!
