When I Started:
Jul, 2007
How I Started:
Too many joint injuries, and could no longer ignore the truth in the mirror. Was always fit and healthy up to 10 years ago. Not getting any younger, need to get healthy again
Why I Love It:
The world stops, nothing else matters, it becomes a basic instinct of me versus me, and gravity
How I Stay Motivated:
Knowing I have an escape from life and eventually I WILL get there
Seeing and feeling the improvements no matter how small or slow.
Every workout is building self esteem to a level better than yesterday. Feeling better or good about who you are is motivation enough. The physical appearance is important don't get me wrong, but nothing feels better than feeling good about myself.
Every workout is an opportunity to be a better me.
If that's not enough, knowing my wife looks at old pictures of me and wonders if and when I will get back to looking the way I did many years ago.
BB Accomplishments:
Managing the ups and down, while staying positive and focused on the goal

Goal (Long):
Growing up was always superfit and competitive, playing football and competitive dinghy racing, at national level. After a shoulder and knee blowout stopped and gave the body some time to recover. Continued with the sailing, football gone forever.
Started road cycling to rehab and regain fitness. Sailing went away but continued with the cycling, until knocked over with severe chronic fatigue that took 3 years to come back from (body weight of 165lbs).
Unfortunately, the weight piled on, then found easy excuses to stay lazy. Eventually, like many people, took a long look at a photo of myself and could not recognise who I'd become. At 35, after dislocating a hip, realised something had to give. Can't stay a fat pig forever. Despite the difficulty managing recovery, nothing can get in the way of where I need to be.
Keeping at it day after day, no matter the obstacles.
It's that time of year, and despite the lastlittlewhile, I'm proud to say I was careful of what I've eaten and drunk this Christmas season. Only hurdle left is the new year, but should be easy.
It's beenfantastic to just sit down and spend some time with family and close friends reflecting...
It has been a while hasn't it? I'm glad to hear that you're loving cardio again. I try to turn my brain off and just do it too - but still don't like it so much!
