How I Started:
My main motivation to get healthy was watching my Grandfather die. It was a long process where one organ after another shut off and more machines were added to keep him alive. He was absolutely miserable. I looked at my own life and realized I was on the same track unless I changed my lifestyle.
Why I Love It:
Once in high school I ended up playing video games for three days straight with some friends - only a couple hours of sleep here and there. At the end I felt just like a slug, almost sick with having done nothing that would ever do anything for me. Exercise makes me feel opposite of that!
How I Stay Motivated:
Constant reminders. The only way I ever get anywhere is through consistency, which includes daily tracking of everything. I also have to mix things up to keep interested and I have to have specific goals constantly before me.
I will complete a half-ironman triathlon in under 5 hours.
Goal (Long):
I am primarily an endurance athlete, but I feel that strength training will help me with that. I want to improve power and speed more then pure strength, so I concentrate on body weight and light weight explosive exercises. Short term goals include
Running a sub-20 5K
Swimming a sub-5 200m
Complete a cycling century
Be able to do 10 pull-ups
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 25 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
14%

What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
Running. Running is the first sport I took up seriously since I started getting healthy (fencing was before that but I was a blob and didn't care at the time). I love how running seems to clear me, mentally and physically. Afterward I feel like I can think clearly and often things I struggle with come as I am running and the blood is flowing. After a good run, my body feels more clean inside, if that make any sense. As if running eats away all the crap, even though I know it doesn't.Running. What is your cardio exercise plan?
I am primarily an endurance athlete, so I perform quite a bit of cardio related. I am currently between training for races, so these numbers will go up when training begins.
Bike: Commute by bike (7.5 miles each way) 5x a week, occassional longer ride on Saturday. Running: 4x per week - one longer run(8-10 miles), 3-4 easy runs (5-7 miles), occasional speedwork (4-7 miles). Swimming: 2x per week - each with around 500-100m (I'm just getting started with swimming).I am primarily an endurance athlete, so I perform quite a bit of cardio related.
