How I Started:
I was always the big/fat guy in school. I was the guy at football games that the team would say "Give it to Jeff, he'll eat anything". After college I weighed a whopping 280. Yes, I carried it well, but I felt 50 years old. So, I carried that sports training into bodybuilding. I found out I was pretty good at it too. My trainer (MIKE DAVIS--national competitor/gifted natural genius) got me onto the track of competition. I'm in it for the long haul.
Why I Love It:
Truthfully, well...my degrees are not really paying off for me...yet, and I am stuck up here in North Idaho...so bodybuilding, hitting the gym even after a hard day's work, is the highlight of my day. Bodybuilding improves my self image (a tough one for a former fat guy with "bigorexia" and a phobia of luvhandles at the same time. Bodybuilding is also the greatest medicine against depression that I have ever come across. It enhances friendships and increases knowledge and discipline. Hopefully, someday, it will also enhance my social life.
How I Stay Motivated:
The first thing I do in the morning is look in the mirror (my best friend and worst enemy)and immediately plan my workout. I work a demanding job, physically and mentally so it's sometimes a long wait. The gains are coming quicker, which is good...especially for a guy on wrong side of 30. Music is always a great motivator....I love it when a surprise "No More Tears" or "Immigrant Song" comes over the gym radio system. My best motivators though are my fellow bodybuilders and friends. They are always there to complain to, bounce workout ideas off of, and to mutually fire each other up.
BB Accomplishments:
10th place--2007 Empire Classic, Spokane, WA
2nd place--2008 Idaho State Naturals
Achieving my true physical potential as a natural bodybuilder.
Goal (Long):
I dream about being 230-240 lbs. at about 5-6% bodyfat. The trick is doing it naturally. I want to get really used to 1st. place at competitions. On season I want to get fat loss down to a science because I still tend to sacrifice mass for leanness. In the off-season I need to find that fine working balance between pure muscle supported leanness with a bodyfat level that tells my body to grow and use what I give it. I am geared toward softness/poofiness...which is OK if I am putting on lean mass as well. I absolutely believe 3-8 pounds each year/every year of lean mass is entirely possible with fuel and overloading. Getting past my "PHOBIA" of being fat....again, is the really huge hurdle.

It is amazing how the the ideas, images and thoughts from your early years stay with you. If you are not careful they become your demons. I was always big. I was known for my "balast". After college the weight became a disease. Not just on the beltline but in the head. ...
Hi u made me a comment a while ago asking what a plant fitter is, i basically fix diggers, dump trucks, rollers, compressors , small hand tools, little diesel engines rather boring work but its work i suppose
