We had one of those plastic and cement sets when I was a kid. I used to mess around with them a bit here and there but never knew much about working out. When I joined the Marine Corps I ended up with a team leader that use to wrestle for Texas A&M and he taught me a lot. I got in great shape. After that I joined gyms here and there but never to the intensity like in the Corps. Now I am ready to get back into shape once and for all.
Why I Love It:
You feel incredibly energetic and in touch with yourself. You can feel every fiber come alive and want to live more. It is exhilerating.
How I Stay Motivated:
So far I haven't. That is why I am in the shape I am in. Now I am going to draw on my kids. I want to be around for all of their important things in life. My parents are currently 80 and 81 and pretty mobile compared to people much younger. So I figure if I have a chance to live that long also I don't want to look like this all that time.
BB Accomplishments:
So far the only fitness accomplishments are to blow the progress I had in my 20's.

My long term goal is to make little, permanent life changes. I don't want to rush into this and give up. This has to be a long term lifestyle change. After I get where I want to be then my goal is to let others know how to do it too. I'm tired of America being known as the fattest country. I am going to make sure I am not a part of that statistic.
Magazines, healthy cook books, internet and my wife really knows a lot about what is fattening and what is not.

What are your secrets for making healthy food taste great?
I like to put a squirt of lemon on my vegetables. It gives them a nice burst of flavor without using butter. Pan searing meats with a nice blend of herbs and spices on them. No heavy sauces.

What is your favorite "healthy" dessert? Give the recipe if applicable.
Strawberry shortcake. Fat free angel food cake. Frozen strawberries with a small amount of sugar to make a sauce form. Fat free whipped topping.
If you read the next couple of posts you will see that I tried to do a push up challenge to see if I was in shape. According to Men's Health Get Back In Shape book being able to do 40 pushups is one of the 10 standards to assessing if you are in shape. I was able to do only 30. At first I...
Hey hey! What's going on? Yea i know what you mean by being frustrated. Fortunately, I am seeing the fruits of my efforts. I am starting to notice changes and growth. I hope your results are as uplifting as mine have been. Take care, good luck, and God bless.

I'm pleased to hear from you my friend. Well right now I;m trying to start a little gym in my house and mix my routine with bodyweight, barbell and machine exercises. Good luck for you and your companions, do they also have bodyspace?
I'm still watching your blog. looks like you have been keeping at er' good job. Good to hear your family is getting involved. Today I went to a "Crossfit" class, I would recommend it to anyone!! It was a great workout, and great results are acquired from this type of training. look it up, maybe do a class to try it out, often they have a free class to see were you are at and to show you what crossfit is all about. Have a great week!
I don't know if I have gained weight, but I do feel stronger, maybe next I'll increase the poundage in the exercises. family is ok... how about you? working hard?
