Overall Goal: It's all about the journey. YOU own the end results, no matter what the outcome is. You should never compete for a trophy. You should always compete for and with yourself.
Fit Status:
Im ready to fire up the motivation and start prepping for this summers contest calender!! WooHoo!!!
I started weight training after checking out some female bodybuilding pics and magazines. LOVED the look, and wanted it for myself. I was always an athlete in school (swimming, diving, gymnastics, cheer) and want to stay in shape forever. Then when I decided i wanted to be a firefighter, I really kicked it in gear- heavy weights, supplements, training partners, etc. Did my first show on a dare, and had a blast. Couldn't wait to prepare for my next show. I enjoy the diet, transformation, committment part of contest prep.
Why I Love It:
I am a mother of two, grandmother of one.I love bodybuilding because it keeps me young and strong, makes me better at my job. The boys at work trust me more than the other chicks!!
It increases longevity and sense of well-being. Bonus++!
How I Stay Motivated:
I choose a contest date in the future, and start ASAP! I gain knowledge of my sport by reading magazines, books on weight training, diet and nutrition. I glean knowledge from everyone I know or meet in this sport. I also study anatomy and physiology. I love to help others with diet and nutrition, as well as exercise advice. That's motivating!
BB Accomplishments:
2006 Masters Natls 4th place
2006 USA's 9th place
2007 Arnold Amateur Classic 2nd place
2008 Arnold Amateur Classic 1st place
2008 USA's 7th place
Making the fire dept- I don't think I could have done it without the strength that bodybuilding has given me

When you take your eye off the goal, all you see are the obstacles........
Americans dig their graves with their teeth. One bite at a time.

Goal (Long):
Hi-
I've been training and competing for MANY years- yep I'm old!! I've been at the National level for 4 yrs now, but I'm working on bringing a muscular, feminine shape to the stage each and every time. Part of me wants to give up the competitive part of the sport, but it's difficult to let go. I currently weigh 155. I normally compete in the light heavy catagory.
I have a website if anyone wants to take a look- I have a new webmaster, so there is new content and updates regularly. hollynicholson.net
check me out!
I competed in the 2008 Arnold Amateur Classic and won my weight class. I'm looking forward to another show or two this year, maybe the USA's or Masters Natls. C U THERE!!!

Do you tell your friends and/or family about your fitness goals?
Yes
Why or why not?
My family is as much involved in my decision to compete as I am. Afterall, they have to put up with the diet, hearing the treadmill going at 0430, and the added time constraints of contest prep. In the off season, they support my training and lifestyle just the same. I hope to be a good role model to my children, and I want to be someone they admire and look up to.
