When I Started:
Apr, 2009
How I Started:
Although I've always been active in sports and have incorporated gym training sporadically, I got more serious around last April (09) when I read Body for Life and although it's helped, I'm not that keen on the format. I'm considering this month (Aug 09) to be my true start, as I'm strictly watching my diet now and following a more intense 3-day/week workout schedule with cardio on all off days, following Kris Gethin's 12-week program as my launch. I'm also reading through Stuart McRobert's "Build Muscle, Lose Fat, Loog Great" in my spare time and am enjoying it.
Why I Love It:
The science is fascinating and the feeling after a workout is incredible. I really look forward to the high I get and the appearance and overall quality of life improvements are great.
How I Stay Motivated:
Not too hard, since it's all fun. Looking at others who have transformed their bods is also encouraging.
BB Accomplishments:
I'd consider myself still very much a beginner...will update later.
Body transformation, building 20lbs of additional muscle mass and going to a bodyfat of 10% in 10 months.
Goal (Long):
I'm currently at about 15.3% bodyfat and am fairly athletic, going to the gym and playing sports (tennis, climbing, hiking, etc.) regularly. I've been following the Body for Life plan, but I'm not sure it works well with me since although I've improved, it hasn't taken me where I want to go. Stating tomorrow I'm going to follow a more traditional plan (ala Stuart McRobert) and train more intensely. I don't have any particular number goals regarding weights/girths/etc. at this point since I don't know enough, but suffice it to say that I want to look great in 6 months and have my body fat close to 12% then, then in 8-10 months look awesome, with 10% body fat.
Started a whole new approach from this past Monday (8/10/09). I like the look of Kris' 12-week video program and am following that closely. Just finishing my first week and all's well. I'm going to be recording my workouts/diet/cardio in a journal and probably won't be entering any of that...
