Anything I am able to do in the gym is a bonus!
My gym time has become very limited. Had a cosmetic surgery in October 2012. Was pretty much back up to speed by Dec (except abs) and re-herniated two discs in my back. PT and meds didn't help; rest didn't help and turns out the nerve was just squashed. When the feeling in my leg went I knew I was in trouble so another MRI confirmed and I opted for a microdisectomy. I know a lot of people say don't do surgery but the pain was so crazy. Needless to say, walked out of the hospital absolutely pain free. I am fortunate that my surgeon was a competitive power lifer throughout college so he kind of gets it. He let me start arms at 4 weeks post-op, will allow back and chest at 8 weeks (these dates are marked on my calendar-lol) and legs, well, there are going to be some no-no's ever. My diet absoultely sucked throughout this process. Two weeks prior to the surgery I couldn't stand up long enough in the morning to cook eggs so everything became fast, take out, carbs, crap and although I only gained 5 lbs which I since got off, the fat and cellulite that got packed on have remained and I can't do much to address them in the gym, only diet. I can't diet too strict because I don't want to lose more muscle. This will be an interesting process to say the least. Bottom line-I can walk, pain free and ultimately, that is most important.
