I was a competitive athlete and I gave it up. Three and a half years ago I decided I was taking back control of my life. I started with light workouts and gradually increased time, distance, and intensity. Before I knew it, I was getting leaner and fitter. This was the catalist for transforming my life.
Why I Love It:
I'm an athlete. Training is an integral part of who I am. It keeps me balanced and focused. It is a means to challenge and improve myself. When I gave it up, I lost that sense of direction, focus and confidence. I've got it back and I love it!
How I Stay Motivated:
I made a commitment to myself to fulfill my potential. I hold myself accountable and don't let others dictate my goals. Training and competing is just one way of being better. I mix it up and crank up my iPod.
BB Accomplishments:
Giving up my active lifestyle was regrettable. Taking it back was exhilerating! Losing 50# has been one of the easiest and best things I have done.

This was me in the wee hours of my 30th birthday party. When i finally sobered up and saw the pix, I was ready to make the necessary changes.
I will compete in a few races including my 1st Triathlon this year so I will train for speed strength and endurance.
Goal (Long):
I am an athlete. My desire to improve never stops. This year I will compete in at least 3 races (run, bike/run, and tri). To actually compete, rather than just show up, I must be faster and stronger. To go the distance, I must build endurance. My competition is me and I'm going to kick my a##!
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 5 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
6%
Upcoming Contest:
A 10K, Muddy Buddy(2) and Triathlon (not sure which yet)
What is the most dangerous weightlifting exercise? Why?
Any can be dangerous, however deadlifts are at the top of the list. They put the low back under tremendous strain, particularly because they are often performed with large amounts of weight. It is imperative that while performing this exercise, one utilize proper weight, keep the weight close to the body, breathe and while challenging oneself, refrain from overstraining.Any can be dangerous, however deadlifts are at the top of the list. What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
Poor technique is likely the biggest culprit. Sometimes this is due to fatigue, or lack of focus. In other cases, lifters have not learned proper technique and thus perform dangerous exercises repeatedly.Poor technique is likely the biggest culprit. Do you sometimes use energy enhancing supplements?
Yes
Which supplements do you take? When do you take them?
An occasional cup of coffee, iced tea (green or black), and once in a while a 1/2 xyience clear. I rely on mostly healthy eating habits, daily vitamins and regular workouts for energy. I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine so I have it sparingly. An occasional cup of coffee, iced tea (green or black), and once in a while a 1/2 xyience clear. So sometimes the best way to deal with the unexpected is to have a basic plan. We will always encounter unknowns and variables beyond our control...everyone does. The difference between having and losing control is prior planning. For example, my friend (PL) made mention that due to lack...
Unfortunately living with my family, my younger brother and sister and dad all like junk food. I'm searching for a job to bring in more money, cuz my job right now I am always without money or very limited funds.
Hi,
All is good my way. Sorry to hear you all lost your game. How is your ankle? Do you think you broke it? Were you embarrassed, lol?
You'll have to concentrate on being the new you, and not the old you. I hope your workouts are going good. :-)
I've been ok, counting down the days til pay day, I'm runnin way low on food so the past couple of days I have let myself fall pray to junk food since it was laying around and free :-( How are you doing!?
Yeah, I do have to be careful, lol. I hope your team wins friday. You'll have a make a blog about it. Don't get hurt......at least don't hurt the other ankle.
Ouch, sorry to hear about the line drive. I guess you toughed it out, and stayed in the game? Good luck on bike riding. I still do it, but I more careful now (see my blog). Happy training!
My training is going good. Yesterday was back/shoulders and today is a day off. I bet you feel a lot better about yourself loosing the weight you lost. Congrats!
Hey baby doll, how's it going? I just bought and finished reading Tosca Reno's first book about clean eating it helped me so much, especially just with defining exactly what it means to eat clean. I've been much better about drinking more water I use sugar free packets to flavor the water but it helps me get down a 1/2-1 gallon a day.
Hey, Lisa! Just sending kind thoughts and support to ya. What's the latest? You still keeping up the intensity and consistency? Wishing ya luv and mojito dreams...:)
Hi,
I hope your having a nice night. I was wondering how many miles you run, bike and swim for the tri? I'm not a great swimmer, but I've wondered how tough it would be.
Thanks, I have actually been trying to get as ripped as possible in the next two weeks before im on the beach. I have run about 20 miles in the last 3 days
