I have always been small and I always wanted a better body. Through a family crisis I realized the importance of health and decided to make a change and I took action. I started exercising and eathing healthy to live a better life.
LONG VERSION:
In 1992 my dad had a massive heart attack which was when I was in the first grade. My dad was dead for five mintes when one of the doctors told my mom that they lost him. At the same time another doctor gave my dad his third electric shock treatment and his heart came back to life. He also found out at this time that he had diabetes. He was given a second chance.
In 2007 my dad was scheduled to have his gallblader removed. He went to the local ER and they "found" tons of stones. So they scheduled surgery for a couple days later. I got a call on the day of the surgery from a family member to tell me that I better jump on the next flight if I wanted to see my dad alive one more time.
During surgery the doctor "accidently" cut his main artery and they tried to stop the bleeding by stitching his liver and colon. He was left to die while the doctors did nothing and told us nothing. My cousin who is a doctor had him flown out to Little Rock as soon as she found a willing doctor to take him as a patient.
His new doctor had to reconstruct his bial duct which was an operation that he never has preformed before. The new doctor also noticed that he had no stones in his gallbladder and he said his original diagnosis was probably just a stomach virus. My dad survived after 3 months in the ICU. His doctor also said that the operation is only temporary and he will need to have it redone in a few years or he will die. I honestly don't think he can survive another operation.
I decided to stay with my dad for a few more months to take care of him while my mom went back to work. I learned alot and decided to go to college to become an Occupational Therapist.
Later on we discovered that his original doctor had his third eye operation only weeks before he operated on my father. You should really look into your surgeons history prior to having any simple surgery done. Gallbladder surgeries are done everyday and you are usually released after 1 or 2 days but in this case it almost cost my dad his life. He survide only by the grace of God. He will never be the same and all of his stomach organs will never fully recover.
One of the things that stuck in my mind was when his doctor told me and my mom that with him being overweight and being a heavy smoker that makes him a high risk for any operation. From my earliest memories I remember my dad sick. He has been sick all of my life. I don't want to be like that for my kids.
I wish I could say that my dad learned his lesson but that is not the case. He is still smoking and I can't do anything about. One good outcome is a couple months after he came home I took action and quit smoking for myself and decided to eat better and started working out. He knew what to do but he decided not to. I know what to do and I choose to do everything in my power to have the best body posiible....one that is fit, in shape and healthy, one that will give me a long life with those that I care about.
Why I Love It:
Exercising relaxes me and pumps me up. When I have a bad day a good workout will always put me in a better mood. I love to workout especially when I am tired because it always fills me with life. And on top of that the attention that I receive gives me more confidence.
How I Stay Motivated:
The fact that people have never believed in me helps. No one thinks I can gain weight or do anything successful in my life. When I get discouraged or want to give up I just take my shirt off and look in the mirror. I tell myself that I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. And the attention and positive comments just pump me up and pushes me to go to the next level.
BB Accomplishments:
I have activated my decision to make a change for the better. That's an accomplishment in my eyes.
Quitting smoking was a huge accomplishment for myself.
In the past year I have gained 15 pounds. I needed to fill in a bit but now it's time to turn that into muscle and tone up.

This was taken the day I started working out. I weighed in at 139 pounds. On this day my journey began.
Well, It has been a year on my jorney into bodybuilding. I have learned alot but havent applied as much as I should have. I want to look way different by this time next year.
I want to stay around 160 throughout the summer. I want to gain strength and size in my arms. I want my abs to get cut and be visable.
Goal (Long):
I want to stay at 160 by eating alot on a strict diet. I want to learn alot about nutrition and fitness. I want to get a personal trainer to educate me and train me and push me to new new levels. Through a personal trainer I want to start lifting free weights and expand my workout program. After the summer I will see where I am and I will see where I need to be.
I am taking a personal health class in college this semester and we have to address a target goal for 9 weeks and write a a daily journal on our body modification. So in a week or so I will begin my workout and address my goal of gaining weight and developing a work out routine. I use to...
To get bigger- Eat alot of clean protien, lift heavy and stay consistent. Thats it, when I graduated high school I was 6'0 and 135lbs. My arms were the size of your wrists, so just keep plugging away it will come to you.
Ha Ha! You are welcome! And, NO, I am not a trainer or a competitor. I am president of a credit union that serves employees in the medical field! I am also a widow and the gym is one way I spend my extra time! I'm flattered that you thought I might be a trainer!
haha your not bothering me at all! Yes its in little rock at the Robinson Center on the riverwalk. I don't know what kind of gym you like but premier fitness is pretty good. Me and my trainer go there sometimes. Also if your ever in arkadelphia check out foundations fitness. Its an awesome gym. I go to school there in arkadelphia. So thats my Home gym!
funny I left Arkansas and now back in cali. Well if your able to the base gym is nice. Free water massage, in door running track 1/10 mile laps. great gym, almost feels like you should pay when you go in. Other then that I've had some buddies go to extreme fitness I've never step foot inside, but didn't hear anything bad. good luck!
