I've been a kickboxer in my life and truly miss it. In high school I was benching 200 on a bowflex (rubberband), still impressive I think though. I almost broke the leg press record for my high school. I graduated with honors from the Air Force and was up to over 65 push-ups under a minute.
Why I Love It:
Who doesn't!?!?!? It's the greatest feeling in the World! Not only for the dopamine and seratonin, but just the way you see yourself and your capabilities. I love Gold's Gym in Gurnee! The support is outstanding (even though I probably look angry all the time LOL).
How I Stay Motivated:
This is something I'm working on still. Currently I'm slightly injured and limits my training. Getting off my recent 'fat wagon' is tough. So it's hard, but I'll get there (I better get there soon too, my bff from college is getting married in 9 weeks!).
BB Accomplishments:
Everytime I lift a weight. Having narcolepsy is extremely difficult, especially in this sport. Even though I literally sleep sometimes between sets, I always remember that I am a product of my risudual past. It is my current actions that shape my past and thus forwardly my future. My biggest accomplishment is everytime I lift one more time.
This boy I know; despite knocking me down, said he was proud of me. I looked up and said, 'I don't need your pride. I have my own.'
Goal (Long):
I want my body-building/model body back. Starting out again and still nursing an injury, but cardio and diet will comprise of the first two weeks. Weeks 2-4 (depending on injury) will be a heavy lift session followed by a 12 days of light lifting and continued cycling of weight. I will be incorporating (I think I spelled that wrong) kickboxing, thai boxing and gymnastics drills as well. I'm planning on re-evaluating every 9-12 weeks.
I think the very first thing I ever wrote to Shannan was that I wanted to be just like her. I still do. If that's not inspiration, nothing is.
She's hardworking, dedicated and such a natural athlete who completes and overtakes her goals.
Truly a great role model in every definition of the word.
Incredible. Simply incredible. This man has literally been there for me since day one. I think he was actually my first friend here and still is. Just look at what he's done for himself! Absolutely incredible. Just when you think he can't possibly look any better, he pulls it up again! Thank you for everything! You truly are the Indomitable One!
How has bodybuilding and fitness helped or hurt your relationship?
My boyfriends are named, Gym, Work and School... I'm learning very quickly that not having a boyfriend, while lonely at times, is worth the quality time I get to spend with myself. Who wants a girlfriend who's at the gym all the time anyway? I'd rather be ripped and a Dr. than settle for a relationship that I'll resent for not fulfilling my goals. My boyfriends are named, Gym, Work and School... Do you sometimes use a protein powder?
Yes
What is your favorite protein powder?
Sometimes I use a plant-based vanilla protein powder. It's ok.
Thanks! How's the working out been treating you recently? It hasn't been too bad here, although I did get taken out of commission by the flu bug for awhile - that's always a little rough to bounce back from.
Yes we tied the knot! Been a month now as of yesterday. Congrates on the new house, how fun and exciting. May 8th is gonna be your target date. "NGA heart of america classic" take a look and commit...
Just working hard on getting some fat to melt off. I've been doing some HIIT and trying to do a cutting diet. Hopefully on New Years day there will be some pics i can be proud to unveil
That's fantastic! Friends of mine who have done shows felt like the extra drive having a goal like that brought out the best in them. Trophies and awards were just frosting on the cake. I know you have the drive- just looking at your progress pics shows you know how to earn success and ya got the looks part, physical and otherwise down!
