When I Started:
Feb, 2008
How I Started:
I worked out here and there in between birthing my kids. The gym I have in my home is well equipped and I would look at it every time I did the laundry. It was only after having my second surgery for an abdominal hernia Feb.5 of this year that I decided to try the weights again..hopefully for life this time! And of course the photo I saw of myself YUK!!!
Why I Love It:
Believe it or not..I like to sweat! You know that old saying..horses sweat, men perspire and women glisten..now that's a bunch of bull. I love knowing the blood is rushing through my veins and arteries especially since my aorta was blocked at one point from below my chest all the way into my groin and blood wasn't really getting through...looking in the mirror and seeing a completely different shape than the one I was accustomed to seeing. Doesn't mean I always love it! Somedays I do, other days I hate it! Not gonna lie!
How I Stay Motivated:
Multiple ways! Everytime I take my blood pressure and it's normal, every time I see my surgeon and he tells me my bypass is still working great and my circulation is flowing at optimal levels, every time I go on bodybuilding.com and look at all the transformations each time I look in the mirror, when my husband can't keep his hands to himself..well...that's really not a bad thing and every morning when I wake up, I know I've been given another opportunity by the good Lord to live and see another day! What's more motivating than that?
BB Accomplishments:
Managing to drop thirty pounds and reshaping my body. More to go ...
Even though my user name says "momof8", my husband and I are raising his three boys in addition to my kids. Though I can't be their biological mother, I'm the closest thing they have, and take great pride in that. Even though my youngest child's life was cut short, he's still a part of us, and I did ...
In my quest to put on some size I've also managed to put on some body fat. Have to find a balance here...Now..try to lose the fat but retain some size...
To take the training down a few notches...just want to be fit and healthy....but lean is really good!
Goal (Long):
Health, health and more health! That's first and foremost. In the last eight years, my youngest and eighth child died..enough said about that, I divorced and then remarried..and he has three young boys that we raise full time, and in 2006, I had surgery..aortic bifemoral bypass at age 47. Stress was killing me. No one could take charge of my life but me. With my health being compromised both physically and mentally, I knew I had to take charge. My long term goals are to continue to work at STAYING healthy! The looks will follow!
Let's see...wife..Mom...Grandmother...keeper of the home....Amy is the epitome of all the above of which I transpire continuously to be. She reminds me of the Little Engine that could except her motto is " I can!!!! " Thanks Amy!!
When I started doing this whole body changing thing back in Feb., I weighed 165 pounds. While I am not a slave to the scale, I usually weigh myself every two to three weeks. Well....got on and found myself weighing 131!!!! Yipee!!!! I was so excited and now have only 6 more pounds to go before...
glad you're confident, i'm a little out of focus right now. might need help getting thoughts organized and put in motion. Be safe tonight, talk to you next year!
work outs going well ty. didnt think i would like it as much as i do. not trying to set a record just learning my way around at first. hope to add progress pics soon. ty for thinking of me, hope u all had great christmas!!!
Well whatever your regime is it is working...you have wonderful definition...nice balance of power and femininity...size is a good thing...you look great!
You know it somehow it was a bit different this year...i had ramped my training up a lot from september onward and feel as though my metabolism was really turned up...even with all of the usual holiday stuff consumed i felt ok...have abandoned the scale...relying on how my energy levels are more than anything...you said you are taking training down a few notches...reason?
Always a blessing to have family around at anytime...i stood too close to the hor's deouvres most of Christmas day...played football that night with the help of some Glen Morangie 12 year whiskey...great courage builder...now nursing various scraps and bruises...will be nice to hit the gym and take it out on some unsuspecting piece of iron!
