When I Started:
Jan, 2006
How I Started:
I had always been a little self concious of the way I looked, simply because I was "average". Nothing special, but I wasn't buff, hardly had a bicep...nothing to brag about, ya know?
I tried getting started around 8/05, but quit after about 2 months due to exhaustion from early morning workouts. It wasn't until I got a partner, who was already very proficient in weight lifting, that I finally stuck to it. I kept pushing myself to get past that 3 month point, without cheating or skipping, and I finally did it. From then on I was hooked...I felt different, looked differnet, and just simply wanted to keep seeing how far I could get. Then I got smart about things, researching nutrition more, understanding weight-lifting as a science, and just plain being smart about it. It's been almost 10 months since then, and it keeps getting better. My diet is great, my lifts are better and more effective, and I feel better than ever. Theres always more I can learn and I plan on improving even more as I continue.
Why I Love It:
Feel great, sense of accomplisment, LOOK better than ever (but still not where I want to be), did I mention I FEEL GREAT?! Seriously if one thing has come from my dieting/weight lifting its my mental state. I feel like my brain was deprived before as I never ate right, and knew if I didn't make a change NOW, I'd continue this trend throughout my life.
Weightlifting and a smarter approach towards nutrition have changed my life for the best.
How I Stay Motivated:
I just keep thinking that If I quit now, all would be for nothing. All those days I skipped going out and partying early, or sitting around with friends to make sure I hit the weights that day would have been wasted.
I currently work out alone, and music has a lot to do with what gets me through my workout
