In my junior year of college I decided to stop smoking and started working out to keep from putting on weight.
My body immediately responded and people began to notice...
Why I Love It:
Training makes me feel good and resets my mind for the stesses in life. When you start feeling good you start looking good and it just keeps going forward from there.
How I Stay Motivated:
Setting short and long term goals such as training for a vacation to look and feel my best or to develop certain lagging bodyparts over the course of a year.
BB Accomplishments:
At the age of 42 I competed in the Michigan novice and took first place in both the bantam weight and master's division. Next stop...National Qualifier.
After a...well too successful bulking season I plan on droping 17 lbs. to compete as a lightweight in the Michigan Bodybuilding Championships.
Here we go...
Do you tell your friends and/or family about your fitness goals?
Yes
Why or why not?
By announcing your fitness goals you are setting a standard where you will know in your own consience as to wether you are being true to your word. Many people say they don't care what people think but they do and when you publicly announce your goals to friends and family it gives you a source of accountablility to yourself.By announcing your fitness goals you are setting a standard where you will know in your own consience as to wether you are being true to your word. What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
Remember that it is long term. I have been training for 19 years and although my goals have varied over the years...bodybuilding then hockey, then bodybuilding again...you are always trying to improve or enhance in some way and have fun doing it. If you take yourself too seriously you will burn out. It may take a year or two but it will happen. I have seen many people who disappeared from the gym because they burned themselves out...had too many expectations and were too hard on themselves. It is a life long journey, live it, love it and enjoy it...Oh and yes have a beer once in a while!!!Remember that it is long term. Which pro bodybuilder/fitness/figure competitor has the ideal physique? Why?
I always likened myself to Lee Labrada. (Showing my age)
But as far as current compeitors go I would say Dexter Jackson has the most perfectly propotioned physique. While I am a fan of several other pros Dexter is what the perfect physique should be.I always likened myself to Lee Labrada. (Showing my age)
