I used to be a pretty good athlete, but like a lot of people, the gamedays started to become few and far between. Life started to get in the way of all of my fun.
Without competition, exercise is a chore. However, it has gotten to a point where it is a chore that I have to put at the top of my to-do list. I've allowed myself to get woefully out of shape. It's embarassing and unhealthy, and it needs to change immediately.
I want to be rewind my body by ten years. I'd like to be the guy who can pick up the ball of your choosing and beat you at your own game, as opposed to the fat guy who is more likely to throw up from over exertion than to keep pace with anyone, in any sport.
I have my motivation in the form of my 18 month old son. He doesn't care if I'm fat or not...but I'd sure love to be around for him beyond my 40th birthday...so the change needs to come now!
Why I Love It:
I don't love working out. In fact, it sucks. Weights are heavy. Treadmills are boring.
I do love my son, and for him I will move weight, and wear out a treadmill.
How I Stay Motivated:
1. My son, Locke.
2. My wife...who is way too hot to be married to fat dude.
3. A ten year old picture from my prime.
4. My inability to dominate sports I used to own without breaking a sweat.
BB Accomplishments:
No bodybuilding accomplishments.

Reevaluate. Restart. Reinvigorate. Rewind.
Starting 9/1/08
Lose 15lbs. by 10/1/08.
Lose a grand total of 55lbs. by June 1, 2009.
Goal (Long):
September 1, 2008 - 6' tall , 240 lbs , approx 28%bf
My goal is to lose weight, until I get to 180-185lbs. (55-60lbs lost)
Once I reach my goal weight loss, I will attempt to bulk back up to 195lbs. (10-15 lbs of muscle gained)
After that, anyone's guess....
Okay...so it's been awhile, as you can plainly see from the dates of my posts.
What happened?
It would be easy to say life got in the way; I had a baby, started a new business venture, moved into a new home. It would be easy...very easy...too easy! The truth is that I got lazy and used...
I believe it is best to follow a proven plan such as the 12-week Body for Life program if you really want to lose bodyfat and get into great shape. My wife (bodyspace: judimax) went from a size 12/14 to a 4/6 and I lost over 50 Lbs going from 36 to 10% bodyfat in only 12 weeks by following Body for Life. Push yourself, possibly out of your comfort zone and you may be amazed at the results and how fast they happen. It will be well worth the effort. Let me know if you wish more info.
I see that you do freelance TV work. What kind do you do? I have an idea for a documentary and have no idea how to film it or pitch it. Just thought that I would ask.
Looking good my friend.
Having a child on the way really makes one take stock of what is important and what is not and being around to be a father and husband rank right up there.
Keep working out and that weight will just seem to fall off.
Take care.
COngrats on the new baby! Looks like your weight has been steadily declining... Time to throw a few pics up to track your visible progress!!! I'm rootin for ya over here! Good luck, and tell the Mrs congrats!!
Congrats man. My little Caitlyn was 7lb 7oz and long 20 3/4". As of right now, she looks like she has less body fat than I do. Good luck, and make sure you get enough sleep. I put on 5lbs over the 2 weeks since she was born (jan 29th).

Man, you are gonna get no sleep for the first week with the baby. I've been squeezing in workouts in the evening after the baby and wife are fed and down for the count. Just hope when I get back to a regular schedule and can weigh myself, that I haven't put on too much weight. Best thing that I've done for my fitness is getting a lot of easy fix/pre-made meals like stir fry and leave out the high sodium stuff dressings. Its quick and at least not resorting to McDs and pizza.
Hey bro, looks like you are well on your way. Your story sounds very similar to mine. Keep up the good work and good luck with the baby. Maybe it will at least wait until halftime :)
Thanks for the comment, keep up the good work. Your son definately will be more motivation for you. I'll be checking in on your progress as well. By the way, I'm a Bethlehem boy myself. Liberty, class of '94. Keep reaching for your goal.
Hey bro!! Just NOW noticed your comment! Sorry. thanks for the comments on the pics! I've cut alot but I'm eating to much muscle with the cardio. I love to run, addicted to it. No running today.....a few inches of snow! BTW, the name of the book is "The Navy Seal workout". I will send you the name of the author asap.

Your progress pics are a great start!! I can truly see your devotion, and your "motivation" is a serious bonus, huh! You commented that the fat needed to go away first...actually, you'll find that while building the muscle, you'll burn LOTS more fat...just remember to eat right (high protein, med carbs, low to no fat) and get 30-40 mins cardio everyday...more than that each day is useless...and if you need any help, email me...I'm a personal trainer now!
Going good bro. Worked today (never fun on the weekend) but everyone needs power!! On a sad note...3 young guys died in a crash just below my house. This place has been swarming with news crews all day. My son went to school with the kids. Really sad.
